12 dpo faint BFP + light brown discharge - am I going crazy? Help!😪

Hi! New here. Been ttc for over a year now. Had 3 MCs.

Currently at 12 dpo, and took a CB early test at FMU this morning. I could see a very faint BFP, and I also noticed a tiny bit of light brownish discharge when I wiped.

I took a CB digital yesterday but it said "not pregnant" (but they're rubbish anyway!). Cheapie test day before showed a very faint line, but can't be sure it was in my head?! 🤨😫

This is the first time I've ever noticed discharge as in all previous cases, I would get the BFP then shortly after MC.

Other symptoms I've had are feeling extremely lightheaded and always sleepy - literally. Went to bed at 8 pm yesterday and was up only at 8:30 am or so. Feeling this sleepy / dizziness since around 7 dpo. As someone who likes to go for walks and work out up until day of af, I feel like the prospect of walking is like dragging lead!

But I'm scared to get my hopes up. Been here before and it terrifies me. Please help me guys. Sad

Hi OP,

Sorry you're in this position. I can relate, I've had 4 chemical pregnancies.

What you describe could be a chemical pregnancy or could be implantation spotting, which lots of women get.
Unfortunately there's no way of knowing until you either get a clear positive or start bleeding.
You mention in above post this has happened before, I'm sorry to hear this. How often has this happened (I know it says 3 MC, but were they all very early? Do you have living children?
The reason I'm asking this is that you can for one be referred to a recurrent miscarriage clinic by your GP (ask them to refer you to Tommy's RMC, depending on where in the country you are but I can highly recommend Coventry.)
I have been asked to take part in a clinical trial (CERM trial, maybe look it up) which has resulted me being diagnosed with chronic endometritis, which is a chronic inflammation of the lining of the womb and basically makes full implantation as good as impossible. I'd get BFPs for a few days, not even on a digital, then they'd go lighter and negative and then I'd bleed. Your story just sounds so familiar... unfortunately this is not commonly tested for in the UK but it can be treated with 2 weeks of antibiotics. I'm not saying this is what you have, but it might be worth doing a bit of reading up on it. I've found I had to do sooo much research by myself until I was referred to Tommy's.
Still keeping everything crossed that this BFP gets stronger and that you've got a sticky bean! 🤞🏼

Hi @NoCallerID Smile

Thanks for commenting- it has been more helpful than you know!

I've suspected also that I could have endometriosis, as DR had mentioned it 'may' be a possibility.

But I did have an ultrasound recently to check for fertility scanning, and seems that all is normal. Nurse said my ovaries and uterus all looked fine.

Yes, in all previous cases the MC was very early on. I do not have any living children, this would be our first. I am going to be 31 this year, so I just see that light getting smaller and smaller, unless if we get a miracle.

I do not feel others can relate to my situation, so I have to bottle so much in. It is difficult, as I also have health conditions to overcome alongside ttc Sad.

At the moment, I took another cheapie test this morning (fmu) and it showed a slightly less faint line. But it is still not the strong line I'd hoped for.

I am now 2 days late. I called my GP to ask for a blood test to confirm and they'd refused - literally. Although, they said to cancel my Covid vaccine just in case.

I didn't find that helpful whatsoever. I thought they had to carry out a blood test to check hcg levels as it could be risky? They did my first MC and caught it just before it ended (the hospital didn't pick up the hcg in urine test).

I hate not knowing. Do you have any advice or suggestions what I can do? Thank you 💕

@TTCmum90 I'm sorry I've not replied sooner. How are you now?

What I meant is not endometriosis, I meant chronic endometritis which is a different condition. It's an inflammation of the lining of the womb which makes full implantation basically impossible because the body attacks the blastocyst so you miscarry. It's not possible to diagnose this on ultrasound or blood tests, you'd need a biopsy of your uterus. Currently this can only be done when taking part in a clinical trial which I'm sure they'd ask you to take part in.

Since you've been trying for a while and have had a few early miscarriages you're eligible to be referred to Tommy's recurrent miscarriage clinic by your GP. Be specific about where you want to be referred to and don't just accept your local hospitals recurrent miscarriage clinic. Where are you based? If you're able to travel to Coventry I'd ask for a referral to Prof Quenby. She's top of her field and just amazing, the whole Tommy's team are. But there are other Tommy's clinics in Manchester and London too.

Once you've had your phone consultation they'll get you in for blood tests, testing for a lot more things than your GP or local hospital would.
Tommy's are currently running the CERM trial which tests for Chronic Endometritis (have a google). I've just taken part in this and was diagnosed with it, had my capsules (antibiotics or placebo) and the second biopsy and am allowed to start ttc again from my next period.

They could also test for natural killer cells, since you have no living children yet they might consider doing this rather sooner than later if your bloods come back ok. They also offer progesterone which helps many women who start bleeding in early pregnancy.

My GP wouldn't ever confirm a pregnancy with a blood test, but you don't need a medical history of your pregnancy losses for a referral to Tommy's.

Please let me know if you have any question. X

Hi @NoCallerID 👋 thanks again for your reply. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain so much! Smile

Yes, I understood the chronic endometritis is different to endometriosis, I just wondered whether one might consequently lead to the other (though, after I googled, I learned they are different). The symptoms described are nothing I've experienced tbh, I've not had any from the list. But I certainly appreciate you taking the time to explain it, it sounds very painful and difficult. I'm sorry you had to go through that. How is it for you now?

I do have big news though- I tested twice day before yesterday and finally got two chunky BFP results! Grin this time I used a tesco test and a CB early test, and both almost instantly showed a clear second line! This was probably 16 dpo, and I'm now at 18 dpo.

I've called the midwife clinic, so now I just have to wait. I'm crossing fingers and toes that this one keeps - it would be the first time the egg has properly actually implanted in the damned uterus (think Monica from Friends - an inhospitable environment ) Hmm

I'm cautiously excited, but not elated. It sucks because I want to be over the moon, dancing like a loony happy. But instead, I'm apprehensive and almost waiting for the other shoe to drop. I havent yet told OH but I've an idea for pregnancy announcement should it keep until week 6 or so.

Scared shitless, but kind of excited. But mostly, extremely sleepy 😴 Please let me know about your journey, I know having a support network really can help. I can certainly empathise xx

@TTCmum90 the thing with CE is, that most women don't experience any of the symptoms, so unless a doctor actively checks for it, you wouldn't know that you have it. I certainly wouldn't have known despite a gut feeling that something was wrong with my lining, but that's a different story 😅

That's amazing, very happy for you! I've got everything crossed for you that this little bean sticks! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Telling your OH, do what you feel is right, after the first CP I kept it to myself too until I started bleeding again and my husband said he'd prefer if I told him straight away so I wouldn't have to carry all the worry by myself. ❤️
