Can you really conceive with low sperm count?

Hello

My dp has a sperm count of 26million, concentration is a little low but all other areas are ok! Realisticly, what are the chances of conceiving with this count? 🤔

Yes you can. My DH SA was terrible across the board we had a meeting with the fertility consultant who told us it wouldn't happen naturally and we should move straight to IVF.

Pressed the wrong button. They told me to lose weight and come back in 6months.
I left that meeting in tears it to find out a week later I was pregnant. We had been trying for 3 years. Tempting and using ovulation sticks.

That said, we saw no reason to prevent pregnancy after my daughter turned one. Came off all contraception. Didn't try (time conception etc) and no sign of a BFP in 8 years so...definitely harder.

@BoredOfWaitingzzz hello! 3 years is a long slog! Glad things worked out for you. we have been trying for 17 months now. We can't get any help on the NHS so may have to go private. Did you have any tests done with the fertility clinic?

Yes you can, we were trying to conceive 18 years ago, all investigations done and only issue was low sperm count, still nothing happened, went through 2 failed ivf rounds, successful on 3rd, dd1is now 18. Went to the drs after having her, he asked me about birth control, I just laughed in his face, 6 months later I was pregnant, no help what so ever, dd2 is 17.

Yes, it was very stressful and an optional rollercoaster BUT we were much younger and had time on our side. GP said we had to try for at least 2 years before they would investigate.
We had basic SA done twice through GP and my 21 day blood tests came back showing I had ovulated. We had first appointment at hospital where they told us it was v.v unlikely to happen naturally so we would be referred for IVF and I had the die test booked but cancelled due to BFP.
That was years ago. When asking a few years ago about help TTC#2, we were told no help from NHS as we now have a DC.
