We have been TTC for 7 months now. I have been off the pill for about 1.5 years and been keeping a good diet/lifestyle etc for the past year. Tracking periods and ovulation which shows I am roughly between 28-31 days. During ovulation we have tried conceive lube, sex every day, sex every second day, different positions even cough medicine to help mucus linings but nothing! I find it difficult some months as we both work long opposite shifts. I have had a general blood tests which did not flag anything up and I am 31, as is my partner. We have not had any children before but family on both sides did not have any issues. I work and live amongst people who seems to get pregnant within the first 4 months of trying and I have become quite down about it not happening for us even though I know there is no set 'normal' . I am just looking for help or advice to spice things up or different things to try. Cannot get any further help from doctor until after 1 year of trying but partner is getting seminal analysis soon. TIA. PS first post so forgive me for not knowing the abbrevs to use.

What about taking Inositol supplement it's know to aid fertility and increase egg quality and regulation of cycles, no harm and all the benefits I got mine from my protein and take 4g each day in a drink or water.

I do know it's annoying when people say this but up to a year is totally normal. You could try temping or OPKs but if your dtd every other day or every day then you have definitely covered ovulation.

Thank you, I have tried the usual on the vits but tend to have a lot of fruit and veg so don't want to overdo it! My pee ends up being difficult colours depending on how much I take haha. But I haven't tried that one so will look into it. I have been taking a couple of things from my protein to boost levels so will look into that!

Haha I know all my friends think I'm daft at being down but they have been very lucky and either had their kids within months of trying or are not at that stage. I understand it takes longer but it is annoying that you have to wait for over a yr to find out if something is not right, eggs aren't increasing. Fine for men! Ovulation is covered as I did panic that maybe I wasn't ovulating at all at certain times. One of my friends lost an ovary at a young age but conceived within a few months so just not really sure what is left to try other than time! 😊

There are supplements that fertility clinics can prescribe if needed before anything more invasive is tried . Omega 3 , vitamin D & Co Q 10 (high dose only on prescription) are the main ones as well as folic acid obviously . If it were me I would get over the counter doses In these and take for a few months . Co Q 10 comes in a 30mg or 100mg over the counter here and vit D comes in a spray available over the counter id prob take 1000iu daily most of use are some what deficient in vitamin D. 4000iu would be the max daily dose unless a doctor diagnosed you as being very deficient they would prescribe higher.

Thanks lizzey I will try to get coQ. I did listen to a podcast about this but haven't tried it yet actually!

Hey, im pretty much in exact same position as you. Same age and have been TTC for 7 months too. Tried various different things over the months. First blood tests are fine. Im due tests on day 21 and my partner is having his SA on Friday.
Ive recently been looking at Dr larisas conception plan, definitely worth a read. Im trying some of her recommendations this month. X

It took 12 cycles for me to conceive my first and 7/8 for my second. I know everyone’s different but wanted to offer reassurance that you are still very within ‘normal’ timescales.

Loops01 · 11/02/2021 16:31

It does help to hear that it is normal and I am not alone in what I am feeling. My OH is getting SA next month but they won't let me get anything further just because we haven't been trying long enough. Will try to up my Vit D as well. We live in Scotland so it is always handy 😂

You say you’re very healthy and eat lots of fruit and veg. Are you very slim? That had a bearing on my fertility and I had to gain a few points to conceive. Incidentally it decreased my cycle length too.
I’m taking BMI 20ish to 22-23ish.

Loops01 · 11/02/2021 17:23

@Imissthegym I was before the first lockdown but I have gained a few pounds mainly from not being able to exercise as much. I have also had bursitis (not getting treated for same) meaning I've rested more. My bmi would be about 22 or 23 depending on time of the month. I do worry that I am eating too many carbs from fruit and veg but I have not had any issues bowels or stomach wise and I feel better. I do eat meat but cannot bring myself to eat more oily fish. I want to like it but I just don't sadly.
