Very light periods. Starting to lose faith after 12 months TTC for #2 :(

They used to be normal around 5 days but now I get maybe 2-3 very light days max. It took 18 months to get then back after my first kid but blood test and ultrasound seemed fine.

I'm starting to lose hope now as we have been trying for #2 almost a year (with #1 got pregnant 1st month trying and I k ow it's lucky and takes some time etc) but at 37 I'm really worried that's it now :(

I thought I'll give an update here in case anyone is in a similar situation and is worried about light periods.

Just spoke to my GP and she said not to worry about light periods as with the implantation the egg would burry itself not just in the lining but also goes deeper into the muscle and because it's so tiny it really doesn't mean the lining will have an effect on it.

Furthermore she said that if the bleeding starts regularly around 20-35 days that's a sign I'm ovulating if it's shorter than 20 or longer than 35 that means I'm probably not ovulating so having regular periods even if lighter is fine.

Still going to have a progesterone blood test in 3 weeks just to confirm I have ovulated...

We shall see I guess...

Hi! Just wanted to chime in to say that I had very light bleeds last year (although they seem to be getting heavier now) and when I had an ultrasound it still came up as the right size thickness in lining and nothing abnormal was noted lining wise.

Additionally, I've seen plenty of ladies here on MN with very light periods get their BFPs :)

I've always had light periods and I concieved very quickly. My cycles are also long and I thought it would take long to conceive because of that but I think it almost had the opposite affect and it's like my ovulation window is longer. Good luck op.

I'm in exactly the same boat, OP. I'm also 37, ttc over a year, my periods suddenly went from 5 normal days for me to 4 very light days, I've spoken to GP and private fertility clinic nurse and neither were concerned, said as long as they're still regular not to worry. I also had a private scan prompted by my fears around perimenopause with these light periods and the scan showed that my womb lining was fine. I don't know why our bodies do this but they do, maybe it's the stress.

Thanks @Juno231 that's really reassuring and thanks for commenting and not making me feel like a crazy lady talking to myself 😆

@Cotswoldmama good to know. I used to have I would say perfect cycles, 28 days, ovulation bang on 14th day and periods 5 days light to medium flow. Now I barely have 2 days and never stronger than super light flow so I got super worried as with my first, we got pregnant straight away so hoping there is still a chance...

@thislittlebird I know right!? Our bodies can do one sometimes... although the TWW is probably the worst torture ever 😆🙈
