Ovulation test sticks - no surge detected - keep testing?

This is our first month trying and I started using Boots ovulation tests last week (as indicated by the instructions and the estimate provided by Clue). However, I've used all 7 tests in the kit and still not detected a surge. The instructions just say some women don't ovulate every month which wasn't particularly helpful.
Are you meant to just keep testing until you find it?

I think we need a bit more info! How long are your cycles normally? when did you start testing?

What time of the day did you test? Did you make sure to have a minimum 2 h hold and not drink too much beforehand?

Yeah, keep going. I've been TTC for over a year and use the Clear Blue ovulation kit.

My cycles are a bit hit and miss, but even on cycles that are around the 28 day mark I still often do 8 or 9 before getting a 'peak.' Quite often it's 10 or 11 and it has been known to be more. I start doing them on CD9.

It will depend on how long your cycles are, how many days into your cycle you start the sticks, and how long into your cycle you ovulate.

Everyone is different but over time you get a better idea of your own body. Good luck with TTC Smile

Yeah keep going! It depends when you usually ovulate and what day it is in your cycle. The first time I did them I assumed I ovulated around CD15, but actually I kept going and I ended up getting a positive result on CD20 - meaning I ovulated on CD21.

Sometimes you can have an LH surge (so positive test) but not actually ovulate. Then you can have another one later on in the cycle which is successful. Or not and you just don't ovulate - all normal.

I'd recommend going on Amazon and getting cheap sticks, like easy@home for example (I use these) as they are much cheaper than Boots and in my opinion much clearer. You can also download an app with those which can scan your tests and tell you if they're positive or not.

@Juno231 - Cycles are normally 30 days so I started testing on day 13 as indicated by the instructions (now day 19).
I have been using them first thing in the morning as it said I needed to hold for 4 hours in the instructions and I have no chance of drinking enough throughout the day doing that - nevermind the ability to wait that long.
@heybabes - Thank you for the recommendation - they are so much cheaper!

@HLW22 the instructions also specifically say not to use first morning urine. So it's very possible you've missed your surge because of this. Morning wee is your most diluted for LH as the surge usually happens early morning and you're storing urine from throughout the nice.

You only need a 2 hour hold, not 4 - but even then I reckon a one hour hold around noon would be more useful than FMU.

Carry on testing a couple more days just in case but if you don't get a peak I think we have the answer!

@juno231 - In that case I think different kits must have different instructions. Mine specifically says first thing is fine if you can't hold it for 4 hours. However, I've ordered some alternative tests :)
