Multiple fake positive tests?

Hello ladies,

I’m looking for advise because I am most confused and the doctors I am sad to say are not helpful.

On Friday (3 days ago), I took a Superdrug pregnancy test that showed positive. Same evening I took clear blue digital - positive. At the time I was 3 days late with my period.
Following day, first thing in the morning I took another clear blue (normal with a line , not digital) - also positive.

I was certain I’m pregnant.

Sunday I had some crumps which I read are normal. Monday evening I had brown discharge, when to A&E, was told they won’t scan me or tests bloods becuase I’m only 5 weeks.
Hospital took my urine and did two tests and BOTH were negative 😳

I was very upset and disappointed, they couldn’t explain how I could have 3 positive tests (i showed them a picture of them) to them test negative. I asked for blood tests to confirm if I was pregnant as I was very upset, but they refused. Saying there is no point to do a blood test for my price of mind.

What confuses me, if I was pregnant, and then had a Miscarriage, wouldn’t the pregnancy hormone continue to show for a week or so?

The pregnancy line wasn’t solid, but wasn’t faint either... or was clearly visible.

I am under 30 and healthy, and don’t know what had happened here... :(

Sorry I forgot to add that I went to to have period now, heavier than usual. Is it possible I had 3 fake positives? Is it possible I miscarried and the pregnancy hormone disappeared straight away ???

Could it have been a chemical pregnancy? I think they go back to normal pretty quickly afterwards...

I’m sorry Flowers

Sounds like a chemical pregnancy, very sorry x

LilmissCa · 02/02/2021 18:01

I am sorry ❤️
It sounds like a chemical pregnancy. I had one last month.
Got positives.. light bleeding, still positives then a negative. All within a 5/6 day window. I should have been 5w2d when I got my negative.

Sounds like a chemical pregnancy, surprised A&E didn't tell you about them as brown discharge or even red bleeding so early after a positive test isn't a reason to go to A&E, just have to wait and see what happens.

MamaMoonbeam · 02/02/2021 19:16

I will add that it sounds like a chemical. I had bfp for 2 days, 3rd day it was negative and cramping followed by bleeding.

Thank you very much for your answers. No one mentioned a chemical pregnancy, I even spoke to a GP today and she said it was a miscarriage and I should wait a month (after the next period) to try again..

@Shushu1234 doctors and midwives tend to not refer to them as chemical pregnancies or so my doc told me, they just call them very early miscarriages. Essentially it's a fertilised egg that didn't stick. I just had one too but only had one night of a positive test followed by 7 days of bad bleeding. Apparently it's a good sign that you were able to get pregnant but I know that isn't much reassurance!

@Shushu1234
Sorry you've gone through this I've had 2 and it's so upsetting getting your hopes up for even a minute. A chemical pregnancy is a term I'm not a fan of it is a miscarriage but an early one they call it chemical as it is too early to show on a scan only chemically can it be seen through the hcg hormone. Sending you hugs! After my first chemical we were pregnant again the following month and he's sat downstairs, as horrible as they are they are surprisingly common and usually a chromosomal abnormality (nothing you could have done) and will most likely go on to have a successful pregnancy afterwards. Keeping everything crossed for you x

I’m not waiting the month to try again (until after another AF). I did ovulate later than usual this month day 19, usually 13/14.
People have said you are more fertile etc after a chemical , time will tell!

Thank you! Is there a reason why the fertilised egg wouldn’t implement?

@Shushu1234 you're very welcome hopefully it will happen very soon for you.
To answer your other question the reason is usually a chromosome issue and the pregnancy just isn't viable (nothing you did wrong or could do to stop it happening) x
