Progesterone Test

In the last 2 months I have had 2 chemical pregnancies and asked my GP about getting my progesterone levels checked as after online research this seems quite common. However she said as I have already had 1 healthy pregnancy (LG is 3 years old and no issues conceiving) she will not test me for this - has anyone had this before? I don’t know if my progesterone levels could now be low despite the fact maybe there weren’t when I was pregnant with my LG?

This may be related to local policy. There has to be some justification for expensive tests on the NHS. ( currently there is also the issue of reducing hospital workload). If you already have a child you would not be eligible for nhs infertility management. It could therefore be argued that investigation might not benefit you or alter your management. Different areas have slightly different rules around this eg there might be a time frame such as leave it 1 or 2 years before investigation. . I am not justifying your GP's actions necessarily and I am sorry to be blunt but this might be the situation( exacerbated as stated by the covid situation). I would advise you to ask your GP what their reasoning is and what they would advise you to do.

@yikesanotherbooboo thank you for your reply, you may well be right I will check with them. I am happy to pay privately if not but am now wondering if that may not even be my issue as the GP seems to be indicating that I wouldn't have unusual progesterone levels if I have had a healthy pregnancy previously 🤷‍♀️

As you say, if you are falling pregnant you are ovulating .
