Hi! My partner and I both have children from previous relationships but none together. We have been trying for around 3 years casually which has resulted in two mc we are now stepping things up a bit as we are 39&41 so I've been tracking bbt and tried opk strips by Femometer but seem to get a high then a low every other day 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm going to continue with them this month but thinking I need to try something a bit more reliable! I've looked at all sorts but no idea what's good and more clear - cb or cb digital thing? The Femometer digital? Boots opk? Please let me know your experiences, I can't afford anything too pricey (like the bracelet thing) at the min as I've just stocked up on all sorts of supliments and we are going to pay to have some fertility tests done too.

Thank you ☺️

I highly recommend the clearblue advanced digital OPK's. A little more pricy but much more reliable than the cheap one step ones which I find totally unreliable. Amazon is the cheapest place for them I think. The clearblue ones worked the first month we properly tttc and I got my BFP. The one step ones never gave me a positive reading even though clearly I did ovulate. It's worth paying that little bit extra.

Agree with @rosierose10, definitely the clearblue advanced (dual hormone), takes the guessing and constant testing out of it x

thislittlebird · 01/02/2021 12:53

I’ve not been using them long but I can recommend CB too. So far I’ve only used the CB advanced monitor that has special sticks for it but I assume they work like the CB ones without the monitor. This month it’s picked up my LH surge on month one, something I never managed to do with cheap OPKs. CB is a bit pricier but I’m just pleased it detected my LH so it was worth the money.

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/02/2021 12:59

Thank you @rosierose10 @Amz6219 @thislittlebird I'm thinking the cb digital advanced or the fertility monitor will be the way to go, I've got these strips and it's so difficult to read what they actually mean! Even with the app taking the picture and working it out I'm not sure I trust it! Now just to find some reasonably priced ones or someone selling a fertility monitor! 😂

Hey,

I use the femometer cheap ones - download the femometer app and you can take pics of them and it tells you their strength.

It will go up and down until your peak

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/02/2021 14:35

@girlmummy25 that's what I've been doing so far, it just seems odd as so far I've got a positive then negative then positives (according to the pictures and app) but they vary between 20% & 70% up and down every day that's what's confusing me

So I got the CB advanced digital ovulation tests, which I've been using with my FF app.

A friend of mine has the CB fertility monitor, and you still need to buy the CB advanced digital ovulation tests to work with this! It's basically another way to record all your results.

I've been messing around with cheapie OPKs for about 6 months, and have found the CB ones more expensive but much less hassle, and found my peak first month, which I've struggled with otherwise.

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/02/2021 14:49

Hi @crabette that's really helpful thank you! I was looking at the monitors earlier and did think it seems like a bit of a waste of money, especially when you can get the cb ovulation advance digital connect tests now which connect to an app on your phone! I've found them in boots on offer for £46.99 for 25 Amazon £35 or eBay £25 so I think I'll carry on with my Femometer ones this month and order the cb in for next month

@Marvellouslymadmum You can get a pack of 20 of the CB advanced digital ovulation tests for £27 on Amazon?

Honestly, it's a digital display which gives you an empty circle for low, a flashing smiley face for high, and a static smiley face on your peak. Super easy, and you only do one per day. You can input that into the (free) FF app (under Monitor/Advanced OPK), it'll save you needing the CB app and the more expensive tests - it's the same result you get and it might save you if you're doing it over a few months? (Though hopefully not!!!!)

The connect ones link to your app to save you from having to input the results manually, and the fertility monitor you attach the OPK to again to save you from having to input the results manually, but if it's just the more advanced testing you're looking for the 'basic' CB advanced digital ovulation tests are fine.

Sending baby dust xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/02/2021 15:31

@crabette ahh I've not seen the ones for £27 I'll have to have a look, I've got 5 different apps I use 😂 which all like giving me different predictions for things! As far as I can tell the fb advance connect and advance are exactly the same just the Bluetooth bit but I can get them both for the same price it seems so that's good!

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/02/2021 15:34

@crabette I can only find the packs of 10 on Amazon for £27 so I still think I'll end up with the 25 connect ones off eBay the app is free too so works out well

Hmmm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link?! I'll try but it may get deleted. It tells you what day to start based on your cycle length, and you do one test per day til you get a peak. So I actually used 11 tests this cycle! Either these or the connect ones will be the same, just to give you the option! Good luck x

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/02/2021 15:51

@crabette found them thank you! Yes they both seem very similar one just reads it for you and keeps track I suppose rather than doing it yourself!

Clearblue digital all the way. I’ve tried lots of them but always come back to these as it just takes al guess work out of it. Also you can use these (either purple (advanced) ones or pink ones (digital) ) ones with first morning urine which really helps. They are expensive but worth it and removes the anxiety of taking about 10 cheapies per day and seeing barely any change in colour..

crabette · 01/02/2021 15:56

Yep exactly! Just the same except one records for you and the other you have to record yourself. If you're also doing BBT though it's good to have them on the same app, and the FF app let's you add the CB OPK results along with BBT and other symptoms, and then tries to calculate based on all the data. Not sure what the CB app is like, worth investigating! xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/02/2021 16:33

@user1481050140 thank you I'm thinking this is definitely the way to go!

Marvellouslymadmum · 01/02/2021 16:33

@crabette ff is one of the apps I use so that's good! I'll definitely get some of these I think it looks so much easier than the strips!
