Hi everyone,

First time poster here and very nervous but after some advice. Have been TTC for 8 months now and thought we would have issues. I've previously had a miscarriage and pelvic inflammatory disease and my partner took years to conceive with his ex wife. Added to that I'm 37 and this would be my first so it all adds up to a worry that it won't happen. Have been tracking monthlies and ' special times' but not much else. AF was due on Monday and I've been having bad cramps since last Friday. Was convinced I would come on but nothing yet. I've read this can be a symptom of implantation or early pregnancy but an so scarred to get hopeful and am expecting just a delayed period or something. Which tests would be best to take? Going to a shop on the way home from work and know there are early detectors. Is it best to wait until morning still if I try one of these? I did take a check strip test yesterday but I thought it was faulty because you could see where the positive line would be but it looked more flooded than anything if you know what I mean. Sorry for the long post just feel a bit lost with this and concerned. Would be over the moon if it happened so worried to get my hopes up with the bad cramping. Thankful for any help or advice xxSmile

I’ve heard that first response early response are recommend by a lot of people on here! They are what I’m using.

However since you’re late coming on I think any would be good for you! It’s up to you if you want extra reassurance from an early response!

Best of luck sweetie, keep us updated!

You can use a Clearblue any time of day from the day after your missed period. Good luck.

Thanks both for replying. I've seen mixed reviews for the clear blue early response tests with some saying the dye leaks so you get a false positive? Think I'm going to get the first response brand digital one on the way home (they do a double pack for testing 2 days after to be sure) and a clear blue how many weeks gone one just in case. I really can't believe this is a possibility. So so hopeful but scared at the same time.

@DawnWW there are a few places that don't sell them so have a check before you pick a shop. Boots definitely sell them but I know Tesco don't. Good luck - keep us updated!

P.s. there aren't many brands that won't pick up a pregnancy after your missed period so don't sweat it x

Thanks, going via boots. Leaving work now as so excited. Guess I should wait til morning or would it still show now? I have had a lot of water so might be too diluted?

If you are past AF due date and using a FRER, it won't matter about pee dilution or time of the test x

So I've just done a cheap strip test as I had one left and it is very clearly negative. No matter how hard I try to squint or tip it into the light there is no sign of a line there. I've already bought some digital ones but they didn't have the FRER ones in store so I've got clear blue. Could test tomorrow just to be sure I just feel so silly to have got my hopes up and think it could have happened. My dates must be out or something but I'm using an app to track and it's usually really accurate? Plus the amount of cramps and stomach pain I'm getting can't be from implantation I don't think - they are worse than normal menstrual cramps and I've had them for days now. Feel a bit defeated to be honest but it was my fault for hoping. Thanks for the the advice though x

Aw that sucks. Dont feel silly. It certainly wasn't silly to think this could be it when your period is 3 days late!! Heck there's girls on here who get their hopes up if their boobs hurt 2 days after they have ovulated (I can confess to that one too!!) I'm sure our bodies play tricks on us sometimes. I really hope you get your BFP soon hun 🤞
