How many days post AF do you Start testing for ovulation? And how many times?

So first month using opk.. what days does everyone start testing after their AF? Just conscious I don't want to waste them and do you test day and night? Or if its not positive in the day do you take that as a no? Thanks in advance 😁

Can't help on the spotting OP (unless you've not long come off contraception in which case it could be down to that) but I've attached a pic showing a low and high test on the app (different opks but they are pretty much the same thing). When you take photo automatically' and it comes up with the T and C markers male sure the C is on the right hand one (the app will do this for you). It then looks for a T line (left) but if the line is feint then sometimes it can't find it and will 'guess' where the line is, or give you a reading of zero. So basically never move the C slider but you can help it find the T line if it's struggling, but if it isn't finding it easily then you can be confident it's a low reading anyway

@Heyha thanks I'll try to take better pics going forward.. and no I came off pill in December already had withdrawal bleed and a real AF so I doubt its that as it'll be long gone out my system by now.. its stopped now maybe it was just self cleaning some old blood out who know I did Google and apparently ovulation can cause bleeding especially as I have been on a pill that stops ovulation for 9 years maybe its that xx

@TTCPLEASE hate to tell you that 2 months after hormonal birth control your cycles 100000% can still be affected by it! I wouldnt count the random 1 day old brown blood as a new AF though.

For OPKs I use one each morning when not on AF. This is mostly just cause its handy! If it's a near positive result, I will test again later that day as I have v short sharp peaks.

Just a note in case no one else has said - an ovulation test is only positive if the test line is as dark or darker than control. Just having 2 lines is not a positive.

Also your body can try to ovulate without achieving it - when I came off the pill my body tried about 4 times before it managed. This would make the OPK strips go positive but the temperatures dont rise after the way they do after ovulation

See what your opk says tomorrow @TTCPLEASE hope seeing a few different pics helps it make sense what different things show up as- took me weeks and weeks to get my head round it all! I still can't use the manual settings on the all either 😂

Thanks everyone.. I still haven't got a strong line just faint so obviously not ovulating..im on CD11 now all apps say my fertile day is Sunday but if im not ovulating then im not sure.. I wish I hadn't started testing now as its making me anxious I thought I would have had a line by now.. the spotting has stopped though 🙌

@TTCPLEASE I think I dropped a pic below a few days ago... I didn't get any real rise until 1 day prior 🙂, followed by a short peak compared to most others I've seen.

@TTCPLEASE ha if you came off the pill in december you're far from over it! It can take up to a year for your body to recover - it also means your cycle may have been 28 days last cycle but might be something completely different this cycle.

Also if it really is a 28 day cycle the most common day for ovulation would be CD16 so don't panic about not having had a peak yet - it's very much early days!

@Heyha I am 🤣🤣 gosh its addictive POAS no line at all today not even a faint one but DTD anyway last night and will try to DTD all weekend.. I never used OPK last time or even DTD that much i just came off pill and I conceived in 5/6 months post pill. so I'm trying not to get too bogged down in it now as I think it causes more stress 🙈🙈

Right its 'day of ovulation according to my apps' I've had not even a smidge of a line or its been very faint. Today this is the darkest ive had the control line is never usually strong on any anyway. And today this is best I've had where the lines look equal. I put in pre mom app and it says low 0.5 So I kind of give up 😩 what do you all think on this one??

@TTCPLEASE keep going! Don't worry too much about the decimal reading - it's affected too much by background/lighting in my opinion Have another go later this afternoon as you might peak tonight/tomorrow or even the next day. Mine this month was 2 days after my apps prediction. 💜.

My app always showed ovulation around cd14 and 15 but then one month I didn’t get my peak until cd20 and that ended up a 32 day cycle.
I start testing from cd10 once a day at around 8pm as that is when I seem to get best results. Then once it’s heading towards a peak I test twice a day one in the morning maybe about 10 then at 8pm.
This month I thought I got a peak on cd14 as the next test was lower but then it leaked even higher on cd15. I’m glad I don’t stop testing until I see my levels go back below 1.

@glow92 today is my last chance 🙈🙈 hubby away again tomorrow for a week so going to DTD again anyway done it thur fri and tonight I will. So hopefully I'll be covered if my peak is tomorrow rather than tonight. 🤞

@Kona84 im CD14 or 15 today can't remember, I did have loads of sticky wetness last night (sorry tmi) so maybe thats a sign.. but DH didn't want to DTD last night and I thought rather than push him and risk him going in a mood and withold sex ill just say I want it tonight 🤣🤣 when its closer to ovulation method in my madness haha he doesnt have a clue about tests/ fertile window etc i don't tell him. For all he knows you can get pregnant day after period 🤣🤣

@TTCPLEASE sometimes that's the best way, keeps the pressure off him... you could well be covered if you do it tonight, enjoy!

@glow92 yep I know it would pressure him and put him off so I wouldn't tell him even in other things in life he's a "dont tell me what to do person" he'd rather do things at his own pace and his own way. So I know id be making a rod for my own back if I start mithering him at specific times. I've attached my latest pre mom test compared to others I think its going in the right direction but could be my eyes

@TTCPLEASE today's result for sure looks promising, my peak kind of came out of nowhere the following day after I got an even reading similar to yours.
The key is definitely to try and keep things fun and interesting which can be challenging after being together so long! I try and peak his interest earlier on in the today being extra flirty/suggestive just in passing. Rather than just being like "now, let's go!"

@glow92 I'm lucky that my hubby always wants sex anyway 🤣🤣 but he also loves BJs and I cant say no because I feel selfish even though in my head I'm thinking such a waste!! But what can you do still got to think of each others needs/feelings and remember he isn't a sperm bank lol. I've read so many threads on here where people have said their hubby isn't interested anymore and it's down to being obsessed and letting them know too much. It puts men off even of they really really want a baby too its pressure and off putting and a complete turn off. And if they're turned off then you may aswell bin the ovulation sticks just my view 😁

Definitely, if my partner asks anything I'll answer his Q but try and keep it casual... he doesn't know about OPK's, or all the googling/researching I'm doing!

Oh if my DH saw my Google history he'd be freaked out 🤣🤣🤣
