Hi everyone this is my 4th cycle trying to conceive, i thought this month I would try some cheap ovulation tests, started CD10 and now on CD 12. I’m going to upload some pictures of the tests, does this look near ovulation yet do u think? And is this a sign I am actually ovulating. Thankyou :)

Hi Jordie, it doesn't look like a positive to me - the line has to be as dark or darker than the control line. It could be the start of a rise in lh but there is some lh in your system all the time anyway. Keep testing and you'll see it go very dark. It is a sign that the hormones that set off ovulation are working, but only a scan/blood test can confirm ovulation had actually happened I think. This is because the hormone can rise but the ovary might not release the egg Smile

Thank you, it has got darker as the days have gone by but not as dark as the other line yet.
Ovulation is supposed to happen in 2 days according to Flo app soo hopefully it gets darker tomorrow!xx

If you download an app either Premom or Femometer it scans the OPK's for you and tells you your '%' - don't always listen to Flo, mine has been wrong the last few months. Best thing to do is OPK's and temping Smile

This is CD13 now and it is darker than the control line what does this mean!xx

That's positive so you should ovulate in the next 12-36 hours

BuffaloCauliflower · 23/01/2021 11:23

It means you’re going to ovulate in roughly the next 12-36 hours and should have sex now. You want the sperm there waiting for the egg you’re not trying to hit the egg exactly.

Jordie24 · 23/01/2021 11:30

The premom app says LH is 1.88 high I don’t know what this means as it’s first month using ovulation tests.. can anyone help?

I had sex on the 21st but my partner is working this afternoon til 3am and can’t do anything right now as the kids are up etc... do u think doing it then will be in with a chance?

@Jordie24

Interesting question, Jordie. I think it depends on when you will ovulate and how quickly your partners sperm reaches the fallopian tubes.

I read for some sperm it takes days to reach the fallopian tubes, while others manage within half an hour.

I'm in a similar situation, I had a positive ovulation test last Sunday morning and we dtd on Sunday evening. Currently cycle day 21 and waiting. Trying to conceive nr 2.

I think while most women ovulate between 12 to 36 hours after their lh surge, some women even ovulate at the beginning of their lh surge.

So you might have already ovulated. I think it's also useful if you have sex days before you get your positive ovulation test, not only on the day itself.

hotpotlover · 23/01/2021 11:46

@Jordie24

Just read your last message.
You had sex on the 21st so that should give you a good chance. Good luck!

Jordie24 · 23/01/2021 17:50

So after the positive this morning at 11am where the test line was darker than the control line.. took one this tea time and the lines look the same colour so does this mean ovulation has finished or is taking place now or what? Xxx

Hi @Jordie24,

a positive ovulation test is either when the line is darker than the control line or the same colour.

So both of your tests were positive.

However, positive ovulation tests only indicate that there was a LH surge, they don't tell you the exact time you ovulate.

Most women ovulate 12 - 36 hours after their LH surges, but some women even at the beginning of a LH surge.

Thankyou for all your replies @hotpotlover! :)
Bedded on the 21st like I said and partner is at work til 3am on a 12 hour shift so doubt he will feel like doing anything at that time haha so I’m worrying now that I will miss ovulation!
How u getting on?xx

@Jordie24

I'm getting on okay, we've just started ttc this month and are at the beginning of our journey.

With our first baby I didn't use ovulation test kits, we just had lots of sex and were lucky as I got pregnant straight away.

This time it's much more technical with the kit and I'm sure it will take us longer this time. Hoping for the best though.

Wishing you lots of babydust StarStar

Jordie24 · 24/01/2021 11:43

So tested this morning and I think the test line is a little lighter than the control line.. I’ll attach pictures CD12 CD13 (am) CD13(pm) CD14

Bedded 21st and this morning, do you think by the last test I may have missed ovulation? I don’t know how the LH works
