Hello. I'm looking for some advice....
So currently TTC on the first cycle and I'm 7DPO. Apart from using the Flo app to track my AV, cycle length and ovulation I didn't really use any kind of ovulation kit or tracking.
I don't think it's worked this month (or maybe I'm just telling myself that to avoid the disappointment next week), so looking for some advice on what to use next month. I've read about tracking BBT and using ovulation kits but if I was to, which ones? The digital or just the strips.
I'm new to all of this. I have a 9 year old and I'm sure I never went through this stress TTC then!
Any advice is much appreciated, thank you.

I'm taking my last pill tomorrow and then stopping it to TTC. I've brought the clear blue ovulation tests as I've read they're good as they tell you your 4 most fertile days. I've always go cheap digital ones from home bargins. It's going to be tough to track my cycle in the first month as my periods as short anyway and I would of just come off the pill but that's my plan

Clear blue digital. My flo app was actually wrong compared to the sticks

I'd say CB dual hormone OPKs (expensive but worth it IMO) and Ovia app. TBH I wouldn't worry about BBT yet, it just adds to the stress! x

Thank you. I was looking at the CB tests, I don't mind paying that much if it means I get a clearer picture and I've downloaded the Ovia app and it seems to show things a day out from the Flo app. I like the look of it and it seems very user friendly. Hopefully next month will be a better month of tracking and testing Smile

Clearblue digital connected was great for me. Seems accurate and the app and tests are easy to use. It's quite expensive but I found one box would last me two months, and they drop to about £34 on Amazon from time to time, so I only buy when they're on offer!

App was almost a week off for me so I’d been having sex at the wrong time. Got pregnant first month of clear blue!

PippityChippity · 22/01/2021 16:27

I use cheap internet OPKs and have had good results and clear LH surges with them along with the Premom app. Haven’t experimented with Clearblue yet as wanted to try the cheaper option first. Internet cheapies seem to have mixed results though - OPK tracking is harder if your cycles are irregular (Hard to know when to start testing as you could be testing for a while) and are less reliable if you have PCOS. What I would say is NEVER rely solely on what any app “Predicts” to tell you - They have been wrong on when I’d ovulate every single month for me so far by at least 1-2 days and up to 5 days!

You're all so helpful thank you! What time of day do you test? I've seen that some people say they test throughout the day every day....isn't that excessive? I'm panicking for next month now as I really do just want to get pregnant after waiting this month and probably did it all on the wrong days! I want to make sure I'm doing it all right Hmm

I used to wee on a clear blue digital first thing in the morning and see if I got a smiley face ha ha

Amz6219 · 22/01/2021 17:06

FMU for Clearblue, I drink far too much during the day to be able to hold it and test in the afternoon 🙈 x

BWaiting · 22/01/2021 17:54

Oh good, I probably wouldn't have the patience to wait till later in the day! Grin

Hi @BWaiting,
I used the Premom app and Easy@Home test strips that you can get on Amazon - think I got the 50 LH sticks / 20 early response pregnancy sticks pack for £16.99, and found the app and sticks really easy to use and reliable.
I'd start doing LH sticks CD10 once a day around 3pm then when the app started to say I was getting into my fertile window I'd test twice (11am and 2/3pm) as the peak can happen quite quickly. You take a pic of the stick and the app updates your ovulation date based on whether the second line is getting lighter or darker.
I like the pregnancy tests too as they show up the second line about 10DPO, and get darker as your HCG increases which I found really reassuring. And were pretty cheap so didn't feel bad peeing on sticks on consecutive days!
Hope that helps!!

@Wiggleinherwalk thank you for all of that info! I have just had a quick look on amazon.
There are so many options when it comes to testing ovulation, it's hard to decide.

@BWaiting ive already got fed up with thinking about ov tests apps etc so I'm going to judt DTD every 2 days or so from CD8 to CD17. Apps are OK but they're based on average not your cycle. And the only thing in reality that's going to work is DTD by all means test until your hearts content but don't get bogged down by it. Good luck and I hope you get bfp ASAP xx
