Hi all,

Just looking for anyone with any experience or knowledge about the fsh and lh hormones?

I haven't had a period for over 5/6 months and struggling with losing weight. Dr requested blood test. So my LH and FSH levels are low see following-

your FSH and LH levels were both 1.2iu/L.

My Dr said she didn't know what course or action to take
so booked me into go hospital endocrinology department.

Cant help but be worried that this is a sign of infertility? im 31 if that helps.

Also posted on other topics.

Thanks

Low FSH is good - as you get nearer to menopause it raises as your body finds it harder to ovulate. A FSH:LH ratio of 1:1 is perfect 😊

I should check - these tests are supposed to be done on day 3 of your cycle. If they were done at the wrong time the results would be pretty meaningless.

If you're not having normal cycles then I'm not sure that these results would mean much in that case. It looks like you're not ovulating for some reason - hopefully your referral to a specialist will get to the bottom of it. Good luck! Xxx

Perhaps your GP suspects PCOS - absent periods indicates that the levels are not fluctuating throughout a cycle as would be expected and that you are not ovulating. Struggling to lose weight is frequently seen.

It's impossible to test on a certain day of a cycle when there is no cycle.

Insulin is also a hormone and disregulated insulin production or action can mess up reproductive hormones. This is why the diabetes drug Metformin can restore cycles.

It is also worth noting that insulin is produced in response to consuming carbohydrates and some women (including me) have restored cycles and fertility by following a low carb insulin control diet.
