Covid vaccine?

Hi everyone,

I have a lovely 9 month old baby, who was born in April at the first peak. Its been a tough year to say the least, being a first time Mum. I have been really worried about the virus and catching it, i have alot of health anxiety in general so this has just added to it. I dont have any health conditions and i am not over weight so i am low risk.

Im in 2 minds whether to have the vaccine when offered because I want to try for baby number 2. I know they wont vaccinate pregnant women as yet with no underlying health conditions but from what i have read.. you have the vaccine, wait 3 months for 2nd dose and then some places have written avoid pregnancy for 3 months after vaccine as it hasnt been tested on what it could do in pregnancy following the jab.

I have had a couple of miscarriages and I am 35 this year, i am worried about have the vaccine and what could happen in any pregnancies and also my husbands words earlier were “you are no spring chicken”.

If i dont have the vaccine i cant really enjoy my life/go anywhere when restrictions are lifted because i am so worried about it. But i am delaying and risking pregnancies by having it.

Just wondered if anyone else is in a similar situation to me?

This is a useful article I came across the other day: graziadaily.co.uk/life/in-the-news/can-pregnant-women-have-covid-vaccine/

FWIW, in your position, I would be having the vaccine.

Hi @Hayley220.. I know you posted this a while ago and I was just wondering if you feel comfortable sharing your decision? I have the exact same thought process and feelings as you and I am feeling extremely lost. Thanks x

@magnoliamoment I'm currently ttc and had worried about this, but new advice was issued in the UK last week that pregnant women should have the jab. However there is more compelling evidence for the safety of Pfizer and Moderna in pregnancy than in the AZ (purely because the main evidence is a US study so they were studying the US jabs not the AZ - and the study of these found no evidence of higher risk in pregnancy).

The UK government website doesn't seem to have been updated with this info yet but it was widely reported in the media (bbc, guardian, reuters, sky news, you name it). I'll be having the jab when it's offered, whether I'm pregnant or not. (Although if I'm pregnant, I might discuss with my doctor first to see if I can be prioritised for Pfizer or Moderna.)

Hi everyone! So @magnoliamoment i havent been ttc because I have wanted to get the jab. But now i am also unsure.. i think its great that they have opened it to pregnant women but im still worried. I think i could be 3-4 weeks away from being offered the vaccine so i would wait until then.. but with the recent news of not offering astra zenecca to pregnant women I am worried i will have that one, fall pregnant before 2nd dose and then what happens!? So at the minute I am wondering whether to wait until i have had the 2 jabs. Its annoying being over 30 and in this situation with astra zenecca. How do you feel about that?
