Hi girls - looking for a little crew to share the ttc journey with - we are newbies this year - decided on Jan 31st to start trying after 12 years together! but had literally just missed my ovulation day for that cycle, so even though we had some fun over NY we are properly starting next cycle around the end of the month - just have to wait to finish this cycle now, and I've never wanted a period to come so quickly haha!

So - any cycle sisters out there who will be trying with me on or around end of Jan? I'm Cd21 right now.

And feel free to share stories and ages!

I'm 34 and have been off the pill for about 2 years now - we don't really use protection just pull out lol and never had a scare so I'm a little worried we could have a bit of a long journey. Although my mum conceived me first time trying so I'm praying it's in the genetics lol!

Not sure about you but I'm already getting obsessed which seems to be pretty normal lol but it would be good to have some pals to talk to rather than my cat or my husband, who I think I could quite quickly freak out if he knew just how many mum'snet threads I've read!

Also... What are you most looking forward to being pregnant?
Xx

@Wondergirl1111 we totally are! I always think of that scene in mean girls "don't have sex or you will get pregnant ... and die" 😂 I went to a catholic convent school and that wasn't too far off the message we were given 😂

I'm on Day 3 of AF.. I had forgotten how awful they are when you aren't on the pill 😭

lottieb92 · 29/01/2021 10:42

Hi all, I’m not sure the etiquette on jumping on an establish thread like this one, I’m new here :)
I have been lurking and I think ladies on here have similar dates to me!
Our wedding was sadly postponed, thanks Covid. But we’ve wanted baby 2 forever, our first is now 5 (he was a surprise to us at 22!) so we’ve never actually TTC! DTD is certainly different 🤣
Flo app told me last week “high chance of pregnancy tomorrow” so we thought sod it, DTD then, a day off, then the next day! .... AF due Feb 10, in my head I was going to wait until I miss it, test and surprise on Valentine’s Day. Don’t think I have that willpower now. Certainly a novice attempt but for some reason I’m feeling positive! This thread is helping manage my expectations so thank you and good luck 😘

Hi all, I'm totally totally new to this and this is our first month of TTC. I am 6dpo and I have some cramping and a little backache. I am also an emotional mess! I am crying over everything...but to be fair, AF does that to me. I'm 35 and worried it's going to take a while to conceive. I have only been pregnant once before (I was 20) and miscarried, which terrifies me now I'm older. I keep reading because I'm 35 it's going to be hard to get pregnant. Oh man, I'm waffling, sorry. I am so new to this world! Be gentle with me please ladies! x Confused

Wondergirl1111 · 29/01/2021 10:57

@Aims1991 I was worried about missing my ovulation day so was googling 'what if I DTD day before ovulation' and there were loads of success stories of people DTD one and two (and even more) days before ovulation - and not on ovulation day itself - and getting BFP... So chances are strong!!! Something about the sperm being there ready and waiting for the egg as soon as it's released - so maybe even better chance!
Sorry to hear about your OH hurting his hand!!! Ouch

@Wondergirl1111 yeah he's fine🙄 yeah I've read day before is fine but I just really wanted to yesterday🤷🏻‍♀️ fingers crossed

Wondergirl1111 · 29/01/2021 11:45

Hey @lottieb92 and @Lucylaroo - WELCOME! It's a lovely group here - not too intense but everyone is very sweet and helpful! We're basically just sharing what's happening day to day and asking a tonne of questions lol so you are both very welcome!

@lucylaroo there are a few of us at about 34 (including me) and we all agree we don't feel it so we are staying positive! I hate being made to feel old lol - don't let the average website bumf about age drag you down! My ethos is if you're healthy and you look after yourself then that's a huge positive!

@lottieb92 I totally feel you about being impatient - I am a few days behind you - AF due on 14th Feb and supposed ovulation day tomo - I already know I'm going to crack and take a test in like three days time lol! On a serious note though - I'm really trying to manage expectations - it's my first month ttc too - and I know im going to have to be very disciplined with my mental wellbeing to stay positive if AF comes along in Feb xxx

@Lucylaroo
hey nice to see another newbie! it is all a lot, I’ve been emotional too, it’s like it’s consuming me! you’re in the right spot with lots of supportive ladies the same! DTD as much as you can and keep healthy and clear mind (which is hard at the moment I appreciate) but I’m going to try to enjoy the journey ;)

lottieb92 · 29/01/2021 12:00

@Wondergirl1111

Thank you for the warm welcome. Glad I’ve got someone to count down with, I can’t send other half crazy with my niggles/ test buying, sadly I don’t have any in! And I can’t Amazon them as he will know. So it’s hard to sneak out to the shops at the moment as were both WFH 🤣 in someways I am grateful for that discipline though as I know not to fed my impatience 🤣

Lucylaroo · 29/01/2021 12:02

@Wondergirl1111
Thanks so much. I'm so glad I'm not alone. AF is due 8 Feb. I have a short cycle of just 26 days. I want to test, but will wait until next week. But the wait is killing me. I don't feel 35, you are so right about that! I've lost 4.5 stone to get healthy so we can start a family and I feel so much better for it.

@lottieb92
It's scary and exciting all at the same time, isn't it!? I have to stop symptom spotting, even this early. Haha. I feel so unprepared for what my mind is doing to me! I'm going to rely on the ladies on here keeping me sane, for sure! Thanks x

HaresHoping · 29/01/2021 18:29

@Fifi1086 we're cycle sisters! I'm on CD3 too (and also hating it haha) let's hope we both have a good month 🤞🏻

Fifi1086 · 29/01/2021 20:34

@HaresHoping hey cycle sister!! It really is rubbish isn't it. I just keep telling myself that this day next week I will be at the start of my fertile window 😊 but for now it is pizza and wine 😂

IndaFlowers · 29/01/2021 21:40

Hi Ladies,

New here, ttc no 2! My dd is now twelve and was a total surprise when I was 20! This will be DH first and he's very excited. I am on CD19 with lots of DTD during my fertile window. Due AF on 10th Feb, yesterday I had one tiny bit of spotting after peeing....don't know if thats a good thing or bad and trying not to Google it 🙈 but nothing since?!

nice to see so many lovely ladies are going through it all at the same pace =)

Wondergirl1111 · 30/01/2021 08:06

Solid smiley face here on clearblue opk this morning! So lh surge today and ovulation tomorrow - here's a pic of the test pulled out - very dark - thought it might help anyone looking for whatba positive Lh test looks like as it really helped me!
Better get DTD - but weve DTD three times in the last three days so it's getting quite intense - I don't want oh to thing I only want it to get pregnant but at the same time he's not complaining haha!

Welcome @IndaFlowers! All sounding very positive for you and a BFP in a week or so! When will you test? I'm hoping for some BFP for you ladies ahead of those of us ovulating now so to keep us entertained while we wait! I feel for you!

Xx

@Wondergirl1111 wooooop! Get yours girl! I'm certain your OH won't be upset at all that he needs to do his duty again hahaha 😉 sounds like you've had a productive cycle so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Hey @IndaFlowers welcome, lovely to have you here! 💕

@Fifi1086 it is completely rubbish 😂 I have however also used it as an excuse to enjoy medium rare steak and loads of choc... stole some of DH's beer last night too haha 😂 my flow has all but dried up this morning which is weird, but it was super super heavy the first two days so hoping it might just be a short AF for me for a change...

Aims1991 · 30/01/2021 09:47

@Wondergirl1111 Have fun😜 I'm now 2dpo and so anxious🙄 I will now end up symptom spotting everyday!! But I'm Trying to convince myself it's not likely this month🙈

ElizabethP141 · 30/01/2021 10:53

Hello new lovely TTC ladies!!

@Wondergirl1111 😉 hope you have a ‘productive’ weekend 😉

I don’t think I ovulated last week 🤷🏻‍♀️😓 NC app said Monday and I had all the signs leading up to it but not had a temperature rise. Could be that I’m just not measuring accurately but I’ve seen the shift in cycles in the past and not doing anything differently now.

Decided to have a bit of a break from OPKs and tracking CM this week as we had DTD so much in what we thought was the FW last week we were a bit deflated. However, had noticeable EWCM yesterday and DTD last night and this morning because we wanted to not had to and NC now saying peak fertility! So who knows, could have unwittingly struck just at the right time 😉😂

KM11 · 30/01/2021 10:55

@Wondergirl1111 thank you for the updates on how your getting on with opks, definitely going to give them a try next cycle. Wish I had this cycle, thought we'd try this first cycle relaxed, listen to my body checking ewcm. I have no clue when I'm ovulating 🤣 I convince myself I am everyday and we must dtd, I'm absolutely shattered!! Although lots of fun I'm not convinced this is the way forward, my DH thinks we should carry on like this 🙈 gonna try dtd today and Monday then hopefully got all bases covered. Unless I ovulate really late 🙄. Also have worries about what if I'm not ovulating, my periods haven't been regular since coming of the pill and I'm not getting any younger (I'm 35 but tbf I feel 25 😜).

So reassuring reading all you lovely ladies progress. Fingers crossed for those coming towards the end of the cycle for lots of BFP 😁

IndaFlowers · 30/01/2021 11:10

@Wondergirl1111 I'm trying to hold off testing until Tues or Wed? Not sure if that's the right thing to do. If I got a BFP I would be insanely happy. I have endometriosis and had a laporoscopy and hysteroscopy last year to clear alot of the tissue so we have prepared ourselves for a bit of a journey.

For 3 cycles we took a "see what happens" approach (trying to lower the pressure). Then my AF disappeared for 2 cycles and now that it has returned steady we had a chat and decided to start tracking and trying properly.

Fingers crossed for all of us for lots of BFPs in everyone's near future =)

Neom87 · 30/01/2021 11:49

Hello Ladies, hope there's room for a little one! I had a mammoth read of this whole last night! I am 34 TTC for the first time and a brand spanking newbie to all this! Literally only stopped taking the pill on Monday after being on it for 16 years! 🙈 I have had my withdrawal bleed, which seems to be slowing down today. So now I'm like hmmm... now what! I'm thinking I will have no idea when I am ovulating, so am probably best waiting for my first proper period to try and start tracking? And just DTD fairly often until then in case we get caught by chance 🤔 what do you guys think?

ElizabethP141 · 30/01/2021 11:57

@Neom87 hello :) woah that must have taken you ages! So exciting that you’ve just come off the pill, took me 6 weeks to have a period after the pill so just be kind to yourself and enjoy getting to know your body again :) I found it fascinating when I stopped! Try not to read too online too, there are so many horror stories and hideous articles.

HaresHoping · 30/01/2021 12:03

Welcome @Neom87! That sounds like a really sensible approach. Well done on reading the whole thread too it is huge! 😂 I'm 34 and on first proper cycle of TTC too ☺️

Aubyone · 30/01/2021 12:15

Hi ladies, just checking in - I posted once then went AWOL but have been reading what feels like everything on mumsnet, including this thread! We're all at very different times in cycles but fingers crossed for some BFPs in next few weeks!

I am 5DPO today and tbh have managed to keep fairly sane (for 5 days at least), there's a part of me if that almost is more looking forward to the chance to have a glass of wine next weekend if AF arrives rather than looking forward to a possible BFP but I think that's just my mind trying to protect myself from getting my hopes up, if that makes any sense?

I used CD advanced OPK this month and also BBT charted and what's interesting is, according to my temperatures, I actually didn't ovulate until 2 days after the 'peak' static smiley. If I had relied on OPK alone I wouldn't have DTD on that second day cos I would have assumed I'd ovulated the day before (CD16) so I think charting temps gave us one more chance so I'm defo gonna keep it up. I am using fertilityfriend website to chart and have learnt loaaaaafs from it, really recommend if anyone does want to get into charting!

Good luck everyone! Anyone testing this weekend?

Aubyone · 30/01/2021 12:16

Eurgh so many typos sorry. *CB (clearblue) advanced OPK
