No LH surge, low bbt, no ewcm

Ttc for a almost a year with dp and just started ovulation tests and bbt tracking. I'm using Premom to upload everything and keep track of everything. I'm cd 14, and nothing seems to hint at that I might ovulate soon :( I've also never had ewcm either, I assumed that wet fertile mucus is normal too but along side the really low temp and negative ovulation test, I'm starting to worry that I don't ovulate at all (if that's possible??)

Has anybody ever had no ewcm, low bbt, no oh surge and still managed to conceive. Doesn't sound great :( hopefully next month I will see a difference but I can't help but panic.

Are you having regular periods? Some people don't notice ewcm- if you drink plenty of water it can help production.

I'd recommend Fertility Friend for logging everything, I think it's easier to read. It is possible not to ovulate but I think it's more likely that you just haven't ovulated yet and maybe you ovulate later than you thought. Keep using the OPKs and BBT monitoring, you'll probably notice some changes in the next few days.

I agree with the PP with regards to EWCM

Turquoisegenie · 10/01/2021 07:58

I also recommended fertility friend as it's really nice and clear and then easy to compare to other graphs online too if you want.
I would find if unusual for you to get no EWCM, no temperature shift and a negative OPK and still ovulate. Usually at least one of those things would be present.
I agree with PP that you may have just not ovulated yet. I ovulate much later than that.
I also agree to stay hydrated for EWCM and you could also check for this up by your cervix, it doesn't always work it's way down.
If you find no sign of ovulation then a progesterone test taken about a week before period is due should give you some insight as to whether you're ovulating

Thank you so much for all of your advice. I will make sure I stay hydrated and monitor cm to see if there's any improvement there. I will also download fertility friend and see how I get on with that! Smile

My periods aren't all too regular, with my longest cycle being 39 days and my shortest cycle being 25. I can usually tell when I'm in my luteal phase because my cm dries up and feels like glue pretty soon into it.

Have you been assessed for PCOS? Your irregular cycle lengths and lack of LH surge (just a constant wave, like your body is trying to ovulate) makes me wonder... I have PCOS and had the same issue. I was prescribed metformin, which evened out my cycles and I was able to clearly see ovulation on BBT charts and OPKs (resulted in pregnancies).

@Hayes178 don't panic yet, there's still time for you to ovulate this cycle! Are you having regular cycles, and if so how many days long are they? You would usually expect to ovulate around 12-14 days before you get your period. Even if you are regular you can still occasionally ovulate a bit later (which would extend your cycle that month). I use Premom as well and am very happy with it. It looks like your app is predicting ovulation on day 18. If you do ovulate on day 18, you might only get an LH surge the day before, some people have a gradual surge and some have a rapid surge (I have a rapid surge). I would say just relax and keep tracking 🙂

Have you read the book It Starts With The Egg? Loads of advice on vitamins and life style changes that can help balance hormones, improve egg quality and get cycles regular. It's a fascinating and very interesting read for anyone trying to conceive, women with PCOS, women over 40 and men. It has interesting info for everyone. Good luck.

I have 35 day cycles and ovulate around CD21 - plenty of time to see a positive OPK yet, best of luck 🙂

Hayes178 · 15/01/2021 22:36

Just an update I got a positive opk (I'm pretty sure!) today, but my period is due in 9 days time so it's later then what I would expect!

That looks good, I'd call it positive! Smile

Sorry I didn't answer previous questions! I done my usual trick and answered in my head 😂😂 no I haven't been assessed for pcos but I have briefly wondered in the past if I could have it. I stopped wondering after I had the scans for my first dd, I could be mistaken but wouldn't you of been able to see if I had pcos with my first daughters scans?

I just got another strong positive this morning, I'm hoping this month is the month 😁

@hayes178 looks good! Keep tracking over the next few days (test at least twice per day) and you'll see it either rise a bit more or start to fall. You'll then see a peak in the curve on your chart, and you should ovulate 12-48 hours after the peak. Have lots of sex from today onwards, until you see your temperature spike, and keep going a few days after that just to be sure! It's very unlikely you'll get your period in 9 days time - it's usually 12-14 days after your ovulation date (or not at all if you are pregnant! 🤞)
