TTC after LLetz

I’ve just found out I need to have the LLetz procedure done and am just wondering how people got on TTC after?

I have had two previously healthy/low risk pregnancies so keen to know if this will increase risk of MC or other complications? I’ve had a C-section previously also.

I think I just want to weigh up the risks with the obvious pros of having baby no3!

TIA

Hello! I've had LEEP/LLETZ done in the past and I think the medical journals indicate a small increase in early delivery of babies. But this is statistically a small risk, depends on how much they removed of the cervix etc and doesn't affect any MC rates as far as I'm aware. It's worth mentioning TTC when you get it done so they can give you a steer whether it'll need mentioning once you sign up with a midwife - as worst case scenario they could just give you a cervical stitch to prevent pre-term labour.

Saying that - it's all perfectly manageable and definitely prioritise your LLETZ over TTC.

@Juno231 Thank you. Yes absolutely prioritising the LLetz which is kind of why I asked, I’m very thankful for the two I have so I want to be healthy for them. But would just love a third, I feel so uneducated about the risks though.

So I believe you will need to be monitored slightly closer, you will need cervical length scans. Normally at 16 weeks but can be earlier. It will also depended how much they remove. As some hospitals won't see you in consultant lead clinic unless you have had say 10mm removed (I believe) . But I would just push to be seen and get the scans to make sure everything is how it should be. If they do find you have incompetent cervix due to the letz then a preventative stitch should be offered.
Ask your dr when you see them and they will be able to go through the risks off ttc and pregnancy
