To worry I will never be a mama

Hi all, this is my first post on Mumsnet so please be nice!

I am 27 and trying to conceive my first child with my partner of four years. We have been trying for over a year now and had no luck so far. I strongly suspect that my long cycles (approximately 35-50 days) have hindered our chances over the past year. We paid to have some tests done at a private clinic and whilst my partner's sample came back pretty much fine, we found out that I had slightly polycystic ovaries but normal hormone levels. We are planning on starting clomid when my next cycle begins, but I can't help but feel so pessimistic about our whole experience and what is in store for us. I have a bad feeling that I will never be a mother.

Any advice or positive stories would be greatly appreciated.

xxx

Took me and my partner over a year I’m currently cuddled up with our DD. It would knock me every time I came on after trying i thought was it age (I’m 31 he’s 47) is it my weight my diet etc in the end we stopped thinking we stopped trying we just relaxed. I was very ill with a nasty lung infection my period was late put it down to being ill but it was pregnancy. It’s true what people say if you think and plan and force it it doesn’t happen. Relax enjoy being intimate. Your still young so you have time. Hope this helps.

Use an ovulation stick/tracker.

Do you take your daily temperature and keep track of mucus?

Figure out when you’re ovulating and you are on to a winner.

Agree with @Sarahandduck18 it’s frustrating your cycles can be so long, but all you need to know is when you ovulate. You could get a bulk load of cheap OPKs from amazon and basically just test every day from CD10 onwards. And temp so at least you’d know when you ovulated!

Of course, it’s a double edged sword as it becomes very consuming that way, constantly testing every day etc and you might feel it taking over your life! Might be worth a try though see how you get on X
