Pregnant 9 weeks after c section?!

SOFIE90 · 30/12/2020 15:50

I've just had my first baby with c section 9 weeks ago.
She was conceived on one round of letrozel since I have PCOs.
I'm exclusively breastfeeding and me and my partner had sex one time at 6 weeks post partum, unprotected.
I did two FRER yesterday and both came up positive although faint.
Did a electronic this morning said non pregnant but when I opened it up there was two lines although faint.

Can I really be pregnant?! Or could it be due to breastfeeding some how, or pregnancy hormones since before even if it's 9 weeks ago since I gave birth?!

Please call the doctor tomorrow. I had a c section then a VBAC 2 years 4 month later. Went okay except for a retained placenta. This is common after a section but was caused by a negligent midwife. I then had another baby 22 months later and then had real issues with my scar. You are clearly much more in a potentially scary situation so please call tomorrow. My scar was not sewn up properly and I had to have it redone 15 months later and that might be why I had the later issues but even with that you are barely months after being operated on so really need advice. Don't hesitate.

SOFIE90 · 30/12/2020 17:31

@Caaarrrl

Would you be happy if you are pregnant?
Im having very mixed emotions, amd one of them is ofc happy and very grateful. I'm just mostly in chock and scared tbh. I work full time from home and already struggling with a new born. But if I'm pregnant it's a miracle and really meant to be. I just feel like I can't believe it.

I knew someone this happened to. She had to have an early c section at 34 weeks as there was apparently a risk of uterine rupture beyond that. She was fine and baby was fine too.

SnooperTrooper12345 · 30/12/2020 17:37

I think it certainly looks like you're pregnant.
My friend fell pregnant 8 weeks after a csection and she was fine. Obviously it's not the same for everyone and there are risks.

plixy · 30/12/2020 17:49

I've never heard of this, I feel like midwifes should tell you this before discharging you.

Anyone with experience being pregnant this early after a c section?! 😫

@SOFIE90 I was told in the hospital before being discharged and again by dr at my 6 week check. They should def tell everyone this as it is a risk.

justchecking1 · 30/12/2020 17:49

Actually, I'd be suspicious that it could be left over hormones from your last pregnancy. If you had sex 3 weeks ago, then you'd be at least 4-5 weeks pregnant now. A FRER detects 6mmol of hCG and a digital around 25mmol. I'd expect a digital to also be positive by this point. If you are unsure, you could try another digital in around 4 days. If it's positive then the hCG is increasing and you're pregnant. If not, it looks more likely to be left over hormones.

2BDIs · 30/12/2020 17:58

From that FRER you are most definatley pregnant and that is not a faint line it is very obvious. You need to see your doctor ASAP OP as due to the c section you will need to be monitored as your pregnancy progresses and your stomach grows due to the weakend abdominal wall and womb. Whatever you decide to do good luck and hope it works out for you

SOFIE90 · 30/12/2020 18:03

@RoomAtTheEndOfTheWorld

Wow, congratulations!

Agree it's unlikely to be left over hormones if you had a c-section.
What made you take a test? Did you have any symptoms?

I had sore boobs which was one of my first pregnancy signs before. But I just thought it was I had lots of milk. Which also seems to have happened last few days, my milk production has gone up like crazy!

Mine are adopted but 4 days short of 9 months apart. They came home under age 2 and the first year was hard work but now age 6 and 5 they are great and we don’t regret having siblings so close on age. They are best of friends (90% of the time) and have such a great bond. Congrats if it is pregnancy !

surreymum89 · 30/12/2020 18:13

Are you breastfeeding on demand ? And not expressing?

NYNY211 · 30/12/2020 18:16

Going by the picture of the test it looks like a strong and clear positive!

I’ll be following OP for your update.

SOFIE90 · 30/12/2020 18:19

I'm expressing some as well about twice a day, rest is breast. Would this make a difference?!

Extremely easy to conceive after a pregnancy, I was warned more than once and I was 40!
Hope it’s good news, congratulations Smile

EileenGC · 30/12/2020 18:25

Extremely easy to conceive after a pregnancy

I've heard this too.

Assuming you're in the UK and you're indeed pregnant, would the kids both be in the same school year? That's rare and so exciting! Grin

Hope4theBestPlan4theWorst · 30/12/2020 18:30

Well done you for having the energy to get pregnant that quickly I was exhausted after mine both times and I can't imagine how I'd have felt with a section!!

Hope4theBestPlan4theWorst · 30/12/2020 18:31

Huge congratulations tho it took me
Months to feel like sex!!

It's obviously meant to be x

surreymum89 · 30/12/2020 18:45

I think so yes, it can make it less reliable in terms of preventing pregnancy if you express.

jumperweather · 30/12/2020 18:46

Hello OP!

Happy for you to send me a private message!

There's 10.5 months between my two, both c sections.

The main thing they were concerned about was if the embryo had implanted in my c section scar - a c section ectopic. It hasn't.

My pregnancy was low risk and I went into labour at 38 weeks when I was booked for my c section at 39 weeks.

They didn't actually keep that much of a close eye on me tbh! I didn't have any extra scans or anything like that.

Congratulations OP. It's definitely busy :)

jumperweather · 30/12/2020 18:46
  • it didn't not hasn't

Were your frers from Amazon? There's another thread on here where someone had two strong positives on them, then complete negatives on other brands and negative on the next batch of frers. Maybe dodgy tests on Amazon.
Sorry not sure how to link...

SunshineCake · 30/12/2020 19:14

Expressing equals not as much protection from pregnancy iirc.

Katrinawaves · 30/12/2020 19:14

I got a BFP for my second when my first was 11 weeks old. First was c section and second was a full term VBAC

I was consultant led both times for other reasons but didn’t notice that my antenatal care was any different and there was no discussion about me delivering early. The only difference was that they would only let me push for one hour in case the scar ruptured (it didn’t).

Like you I had fertility treatment to conceive my first due to PCOS and was exclusively breastfeeding. It was all fine in the end.

Good luck and congratulations

Yes they are, I used them when I found out I was pregnant with my baby girl.
But I've ordered clear blue that comes today. So I'm doing one tomorrow morning and if it's positive I'm doing one a few days later to see if the line progress, and if it does I'll know I'm pregnant and it's not left over hormones or leftovers of the placenta inside me... my mind is going crazy and I just need to know now..

OP posts:
SOFIE90 · 31/12/2020 14:35

I've done a clear blue early detection and there is a giant line but very faint. I didint do it with morning urine.
I don't feel any wiser after that pregnancy test 😅
But I think I can rule out faulty pregnancy tests!

Mooey89 · 31/12/2020 14:40

I think you’re about to have two under one OP!
