Hi, I'm 12 weeks post partum. Had a period roughly 6 weeks ago and nothing since. Had tests in the house so took them and there are clear lines on both. Is this likely to be a new pregnancy or residual hormones?

Looks like the frers tests could be faulty. Fingers crossed they are op if you didn't want to be pregnant. 🤞

Took another clear blue this morning and it's completely negative. Rang my doctor, she said no such thing as a false positive so it's likely a new pregnancy. Can't get an appointment to check bloods until the 7th January. Really hoping faulty tests, hardly slept and feel sick with worry.

For a positive to show it needs to have picked up the pregnancy hormone so your gp is most likely correct. However I've never bought tests from Amazon. What do the reviews say have people mentioned false positives on there?

@cushioncovers

Just had a look...mixed reviews but mentions of false positives.

Your GP is correct, you don't get false positives with pregnancy tests usually.

The only times you will is prior to 5 weeks after giving birth and a few weeks after a miscarriage. This is because the test detects HCG hormone that is often still present.

The reason the women leaving Amazon reviews are saying they had a false negative is because some tests detect very low levels of HCG. In the following week (s) this can sometimes drop due to an implantation failure and menses then starts. It can look like a false positive.

Surely it must have been a faulty set of tests??
