Coq10 and DHA affecting cycles/ovulation?

So I'm just curious as to whether anyone has noticed an impact on their cycles after taking coq10 and DHA? I have been taking them since beginning of December, same week last period started.
I have been trying a year, until October I had 27 day cycles, positive opks on d13, a chemical threw things out of sync and last cycles have been 31with ovulation a few days later. I normally have very, very light periods that barely last 2 days.
This month no sign of ovulation on opks and symptoms so was just going to have sex every other day just in case. Yesterday odd bleeding/spotting red on day 22. Very different to the start of my normal periods.

The only thing I have changed is supplements I have taken, now I regret taking them, has anyone else experienced this?

Long time lurker on mumsnet, taking comfort from all your wisdom and knowing I'm not alone, first time poster. Thank you x

Could it be implantation bleeding? Fingers crossed for you.

I’ve been considering trying these supplements after reading about them on a blog. Do you mind me asking where you purchased them from? And what dose you take?

Many thanks and good luck.

Sure, I got these ones linked on this blog off amazon and take the doses on the packets. 3 x Coq10 and 2 x DHA, if I'm organised or WFH I take them morning, lunch and dinner as apparently better for absorbing them gradually.

I would love to think it could be implantation but don't want to get my hopes up, it seems too early and I had no ovulation symptoms.
Thanks, Guess only time will tell....

@Louise241989 Are you still taking these supplements? Would you recommend?
Thanks in advance

I know you probably have your answer now @Louise241989 but have only just seen this and thought I’d add my experience. I had been taking 200mg COQ10 for around 6 months but started reading posts from other women that were taking 3 times that dose so I increased my dose to 400mg. For the 2 months I was taking the increased dose I have 40+ day cycles. I’ve reduced it back down now and my cycles are more normal again. I have also added it a couple of other supplements so cannot be sure of what has worked but the only thing I did differently on those incredibly long months was the increased COQ10 dosage.

Thank you for your response, that's useful to know. I've given up trying to figure it all anymore, periods are getting more unpredictable/strange each month compared to when I first had coil taken out - who knows what's going on?!

I’ve started taking inofolic alpha @Louise241989 and my past 3 cycles have been more ‘normal’ but I am also using soy isoflavones so I can’t guarantee which has done the trick.

Here is the link to the inofolic alpha - it does say it’s meant for women with PCOS and although I have never been diagnosed I do believe I may have some of the symptoms and even if I don’t have it there is nothing in this supplement that’s going to do any harm so maybe it’s worth a try?

Thanks for the info @Waiting2BAMummy. I’m a little hesitant to start ubiquinol because of these stories of longer cycles so I’m pleased to see it could be a dosage issue. I’m only planning on 100-200mg per day and hoping that will avoid any long cycle issues.

Waiting2BAMummy · 05/02/2021 00:41

Ubiquinol is also more bioavailable that COQ10 @thislittlebird so definitely a good idea to use a lower dose I think as you don’t need as much to have the same effect on egg quality.

Noted, thanks @Waiting2BAMummy! I think I’ll definitely stick with the one per day (100mg) rather than run the risk of messing up my cycles and making them longer/ovulation later (it’s late enough as is!).

Good luck @thislittlebird x
