Things to do before ttc?

Me and my husband have been together ten years and would love a baby now and both feel ready but I'm halfway through my degree and just feel a baby would be too hard through uni. We are wondering if there's anything we should do to prepare for trying. We are likely going to start trying in 2022 so around one years time.

Is there anything we should consider now, a year before ttc? Or am I being overly obsessive?

There is an excellent book called "it starts with the egg" which is a good for about 6 months before trying. It gives advice on how to ensure your eggs are in the best possible shape for conceiving (eggs start developing 3 months before you ovulate). Otherwise it is wise to start tracking cycles so you've got an idea of length and what is normal for you!

@VNttc thank you!! It's all so exciting to think I could start preparing in 6 months time!!! I'll definitely check that out!

Agreed with previous poster. I'd also say that if you're on hormonal contraceptives then it wouldn't be a bad idea to come off them now as it can take up to a year to get back to normal afterwards.

Definitely start tracking your cycles!

@Juno231 thank you! Yes I haven't been on hormonal contraception for years and have been tracking my cycles for just as long. I've started temperature charting this month though to have a better idea of everything
