Hi hoping someone might have an idea how to help,

Does anyone know if there a way of getting a implant(nexplanon) removed during covid? In last 3months I've had blood tests/ smear tests but won't remove my implant. 🤷🏻‍♀️ .

Sorry just looking for advice 😔

Have you tried your local sexual health clinic? You'll be able to find it on Google.

DD was referred to SH clinic. It was very efficient and straightforward.

Sw1990 · 17/12/2020 00:09

Yeah tryed that yesterday. They claim to not be doing the procedure either at the moment and couldn't tell me when they would be .

I have the same issue. My local sexual health clinic and my gp won't change my coil that has been due for replacement since April. Its postcode pot luck healthcare at the moment.

Don't know if ur local private hospital would do it, but that means you would have to pay

RosesAndHellebores · 17/12/2020 10:52

OP if neither your GP nor local SH clinic can do this it may be an idea to telephone your local CCG (your GP will have details) and ask them who is providing this service. The CCGs commission services.

I paid for mine to be removed in the end as my local SH clinics kept saying they couldn't remove it.

Thank you everyone for your help . Unfortunately it must be different in Scotland 😔I've phoned private hospital today and no joy either

I had this problem over summer, its ridiculous. I ended up getting really upset in the phone and saying if they couldn't give me an appointment to get it soon I was going to take it out myself (obviously wouldn't advise you yo actually do that!). No idea if that made a difference but I got an appointment not so long after. Hope you get somewhere soon

HipHipHooray7 · 17/12/2020 18:33

Hello @Sw1990 - I had my implant removed during the first lockdown but ended up having to get it done privately as like you, couldn't find anyone to do it. It cost £130 in central London but it might be a bit cheaper elsewhere.

Amijustagrump · 20/12/2020 15:04

It seems totally up to the doctors! Mine got removed this month and it wasn't a problem, it was a 4 week wait but they managed it however my friend in the next town they are refusing! I had considered going private. Someone else told me they said they would be removing it themselves and a&e took it out for her
