TTC with potential PCOS... tips? help?!

I am just starting this journey and tbh getting a bit overwhelmed with all the info out there! Any tips would be appreciated.

I was told it could take a year for periods to return after stopping Sayana Press, so I stopped in March last year. A year came and went and nothing so after more than 18 months I managed to talk to a nurse about it (it's insane trying to get a doctors appt in my town). I tried the give-you-a-period pill with no luck on different doses. Had a million blood tests done all came back normal. Had ultrasound which showed my ovaries looked consistent with PCOS. Was then referred to gyno who agreed I "could" have PCOS, though all my further blood tests also came back normal. I do get some patches of dark hair on my chin which could be another symptom.

Gyno advised me that I should get a referral to a fertility clinic (She was private through my works insurance so I only got 1 consultation and 1 phone appt) At this point I did actually get a period!! Although it was very light and dark coloured... My husband and I thought that we could give it a go naturally first if there was a chance I was ovulating.

So we officially started trying in November :) Some great news is that I've just had another period - I was tracking symptoms in Clue and it started on the EXACT predicted day and this one has been the first "normal" period I have had in YEARS. I've never been so happy to menstruate Grin

So long story short is that I MAY have PCOS or.. not? Some of the boards on PCOS don't seem to apply to me, and some of the 'normal' ones might not either - I'm getting stressed about what I should be doing right now (other than the obvious Wink). Supplements, medication, do eat this, don't eat that, have sex on these days but not those days Confused

I don't really have anyone other than my husband to talk to about this. I have one friend going through fertility treatment but she is a lesbian so not really a comparable experience! Also my sister, but she can get pregnant from a stiff breeze so doesn't really "get it".

I was investigated for extremely inconsistent periods and diagnosed with PCOS. There was no pattern, sometimes they'd be 2 months apart, sometimes a year. I have no symptoms besides that, but had the scans and they said my ovaries were also consistent with PCOS and they diagnosed me with that.

After TTC for around a year with no luck, they were thinking of prescribing me clomid to help but the issue was you are supposed to start on the first day of your cycle. I was on day 388 of that cycle.

I'd done some research online about the Natural Cycles app and thermometer and how it can detect ovulation etc. I started doing it just to see if I could figure out if I was even ovulating etc. After a few months tracking my BBT with it I finally had a period, and it told me when it predicted ovulation was going to occur, told me when to try, and told me when it predicted a spike in temp and told me to take a pregnancy test. My first period using it and it predicted everything perfectly, and I now have a toddler.

Could well of been a fluke, the app itself even said on sign up it can take a while to be fully accurate but it worked for me. I know when it's time for number 2 I'm going to use it again. I think it was about a £40 yearly subscription, there may be free or cheaper apps but that's the specific one that worked for me and I thank it for my DS.

I did hope pregnancy could resolve the PCOS to an extent but I still have no more than two periods a year. I'm one of the lucky ones who didn't end up needing treatment, and did end up getting pregnant easily enough but only once I began to understand my cycles. The year we were TTC beforehand it was just as and when, being so many months into one cycle it was just impossible. Even if it doesn't work straight away like it did for me, with PCOS and/or inconsistent cycles it's a good idea to track your BBT and begin to understand what is happening.

Good luck Smile
