21 DPO, negative tests, pain in shoulder

Hi Everyone, I'm a full week late (21 DPO), I have some symptoms that could be either PMS or early pregnancy like sore boobs and the like, I have bits of thick green CM that look a lot like bits of a mucus plug, BUT testing negative.

I'd usually leave it at that, I'm not 100% sure of my ovulation date anyway, but I'm having pain between neck and shoulder that's not muscular and it's an ectopic pregnancy symptom apparently. It's not that bad, I can sleep through it. No other symptoms, no pelvic pain.

My partner is hard on my case to call 111 but I feel like a total hypochondriac and if it was an ectopic, wouldn't I have a positive test by now?

I've done loads of internet cheapies, and a boots test this morning. Ordered a couple of FRER that ought to arrive in the next few days.

Is it conceivable that they're all false negatives? Feels a bit of a stretch. Surely 111 will just laugh at me if I don't have any other symptom than a slightly late period and vague pain in just one shoulder? Thoughts?

I think its probably unlikely to be an ectopic with a negative test, but I'm no expert. It certainly wouldn't hurt to call either your GP or 111 and discuss it, at least then you can have some proper medical advice even if it turns out to be nothing. Better safe than sorry. Do you often have a late period or are you quite regular?

Also just to add, my period was 12 days late before I got a positive test with my second pregnancy!

I would absolutely call 111 in your position. Not everyone gets the exact same symptoms. It's really not worth the risk given how much damage an ectopic pregnancy can cause.

Fingers crossed it isn't that though. 🙂

Right, so I had pelvic pain as well yesterday so gave in and called 111 and they sent an ambulance out! 3 paramedics! Long story short they can't rule out an ectopic completely but really don't believe that's it - the pain wasn't bad enough, the negative pregnancy tests are very reassuring, and all my vitals were perfectly normal. They said they'd expect massive pelvic pain and vaginal bleeding and something odd in terms of blood pressure etc before treating the shoulder pain as a symptom for an ectopic. So that's good to know.

They did say to carry on doing pregnancy tests twice a week or so just to be on the safe side.

I'm now feeling very embarrassed I caused all this ruckus for nothing.

Thank you for the replies @Curiosity101 and @Dearmaria.

@Hoping4second Don't beat yourself up. You explained your symptoms to a trained professional and they made an informed decision. If they sent an ambulance then they obviously decided it was risky and the outcome could easily have been very different.

Really glad to hear you're feeling well though 😊. Did they ultrasound your tubes?

Hoping4second · 11/12/2020 09:38

@Curiosity101 no - the negative pregnancy test was enough for them to doubt I was pregnant. They did offer a blood test (more accurate than urine test apparently) but I declined, I was too embarrassed already at that point.
