Clearblue digital - false negative?

Hi all, happy Sunday!
I've just got a negative (tested at 4pm today) from a clear blue digital test. I'm currently about 6-7 dpo and AF due in about 5 days! I thought it was just a standard negative but now googling as you do it seems the tests can be unreliable or maybe I've just tested too early and at the wrong time? Any advice appreciated! Thanks

Way too early, probably still too early for implantation to occur. I'd leave it at least another 3 days, then use a FRER with FMU. Digitals are less sensitive so take longer to pick up a positive.

You'd be very, very unlikely to get a positive on even the most sensitive of tests at 6 dpo. Clear blue digital are possibly the most insensitive test.

False negatives aren't really false negative. A false negative is where you have enough bHCG for the test to pick up, but it doesn't work properly. What you may have, is insufficient bHCG to trigger the test.

First response are sensitive to 6.3 mIU/mL
The blue labelled internet cheapies are roughly 7 mIU/mL
Most supermarket tests are somewhere between 10 and 20mIU/mL
Clear blue ordinary, the + one and the basic digital are 25mIU/mL
Clear blue digital weeks indicators 50mIU/mL

So, if you insist on testing before your period is due, use a more sensitive test.

Thank you that's all really good to know! Think I'm gonna hold out for my fingers crossed missed period!! Another quick one.. I received a static smiley on ovulation test on Friday 20th.. presuming I ovulated within 48 hours I am counting the day ovulated as 22nd. Is this the correct way to go by? Thanks
