Conceiving a baby girl on the day of ovulation?

How many of you have conceived a baby girl on the day of ovulation? I know it's a silly question but I just recently found out about the Shettles method and according to this theory it'd be more likely to conceive a boy on the day of ovulation. I know it's very controversial, but I just find it interesting. I'm currently pregnant and pretty sure I conceived on the exact day of ovulation so I'm curious. It'd be interesting to hear how many of you had baby girls if you conceived on the day of ovulation.

I have 2 boys and both times sex was on ovulation day x

@DuzzyFuck yes too many referring to dtd as conceived. Conceived is when sperm meets egg ... which could be five days after dtd

@DuzzyFuck @LittleTiger007 thing is everyone in the thread knows what they mean by it so it's just semantics to get hung up on it.

I've gone through quite many threats with experiences about this method and it seems like in reality it has been true for many people but science says the theory is not valid.

@DuzzyFuck

Confused by the semantics in this thread. Nobody can conceive 'before' ovulation, do you all mean that's when you DTD?

Surely everyone conceives on the day of ovulation, since the released egg is only viable for circa 24 hours? Hmm The only difference would be how long the sperm has been kicking around in their beforehand?

You're right and I know the difference as I believe most of us do. It'd be more clear to talk about the timing of sex and not conceiving.

Sounds like a theory that’s driven by pedestrian sexism. How would you prove such a thing. For those who say they “conceived” on the day of ovulation, what do you mean. Everyone conceives the day of ovulation or very shortly after: the average lifespan of an egg is 0.7 days. Do you mean you only had sex once on the day of ovulation? If you had sex more than once in the week prior, you can’t possibly know which sperm fertilised the egg.

With respect some people don’t know and the point of this thread is discussing the difference a gap makes between dtd and conception. That’s the whole point of the shettles theory.

Sometimes people’s tone is lost in a typed message and I typed my point in a perfectly relaxed, non critical way. Sorry if it was taken wrongly.

I was aware of this idea for second 2 children and it worked out according to plan but obviously we would have been happy either way and I wasn't invested in it working.

DuzzyFuck · 25/11/2020 22:01

@LittleTiger007 Exactly my pojnt too. I've only been TTC 6 months and knew literally NOTHING before that, everything to do with conception was a complete mystery to me.

(Aside from the fact that obviously if I ever even once DTD without protection I'd get knocked up immediately - hollow laugh - Hmm)

Most people will know but some don't and I don't think wilfully using incorrect terms is very helpful.

It’s interesting reading the other thread. People who dtd on the day of ovulation and had girls. They don’t seem to realise that even a boy sperm takes about half a day to swim to the egg. Dtd needs to be before ovulation and so these eggs were probably conceived from the time they dtd two or three (even five)days prior to ovulation. Girl sperm live for up to 5 days where the egg only lasts less than a day. The sperm ideally need to be in position near the ovary ready for when the egg emerges.

@RedPandaFluff
sounds like a load of claptrap to me
That’s because it is!

The chance of having a baby of either sex is 50%, the fact that someone used this “method” and got a child of a particular sex doesn’t prove anything- It is not a simple case of cause and effect and several subsequent independent studies have shown the method doesn’t work.
