Implant removal and pregnancy

Hey, I have been on the implant for 5 years. Before this I was on the pill for 5years. I had the implant removed almost three weeks ago and we have decided to non officially start trying to conceive. However I have read mixed things about fertility returning to normal straight away and others stating this can take 3-18months. I am just wondering if anyone can give me any advice? We had unprotected sex two weeks ago and the last few days I have had awful lower back pain and cramps. There is no sign of blood or spotting. My breasts have been a little tender and nipples are very sensitive than usual. I am confused because everytime I look online for advice it mentions everything around my period or after missed periods. Problem is.. I don’t know when I would be due on this as I have not had a period in so long!! When I had the implant in I would not have a period until the last year which would end up being 3-4 times during the year. Please help.

Hi, I didnt get a normal period until about 7 weeks after getting implant out, but think I am ovulating normally now! Your cycle will sort itself out. If you don't get a period in a few weeks you could do a test x

I ovulated exactly 2 weeks after having my implant removed so my period arrived 25 days after implant removal. It'll vary from person to person though.

In your case where you're not sure when to test I'd recommend getting some cheap dip tests like these: www.amazon.co.uk/One-Highly-Sensitive-Pregnancy-earlier/dp/B004EYMMEU/ref=pd_lpo_121_t_1/261-3811989-3306941?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

They're super cheap so not going to break the bank if you need to do lots of tests. You will need a plastic cup/hair spray lid/receptacle to wee into so that you can dip them though.

I would start taking a test every few days once you're 21 days post implant removal. Then just keep testing every few days until your period arrives or you get a BFP.

If your period arrives and if you'd like to track ovulation in future then I'd recommend the OneStep OPK tests. If you know when you've ovulated it's normally safe to test once you're 10DPO (days post ovulation), but 12DPO or later is the most reliable.

Good luck!

I got pregnant by accident with DC1 then had the implant put it. After it was taken out it took 19 months to concieve DC2!
