High Prolactin and TTC

Looking for some reassurance really!

Two blood tests showed I had elevated prolactin first was nearly 600 second was 1200. I have managed to get pregnant twice in the last 9 months but both ended in early miscarriage. I am also fairly sure I’m OVing as lh tests are positive and my temps did go up.

I’ve taken steps to reduce stress/anxiety I’m eating better, sleeping better, exercising etc etc. My GP referred me to an endocrinologist. Does any have experience with this what should I expect? Also any success stories would be great!

Hey dreamer Smile I have a similar story (not yet successful) with high prolactin however not sure in which unit your numbers above are. In Germany, the normal levels are below 25. I got the 1st time back in February 93. Then I started to take some vitamins and it went down to 40 then 22 and then again 37 and was basically going back and forth for the last 3-4 months. As we have an appointment that we waited for 5 months at a reproductive clinic, I did an MRI to save some time and check if there is nothing in the brain since my sister in law had an operation for this and we knew what we are dealing with. Last analysis came 25 which is quite good. The MRI showed one of the lobs of the gland a bit swollen but nothing too bad. I then took the MRI results to an endo however it seems she did not understood much, said that she doesn't believe I don't get pregnant because of it and did not recommended any concrete treatments. I did mentioned to her that I do ovulate but not every month and not always at the right time so that the lutheale phase is long enough for the baby to be implanted. Was quite shocking Confused I hope at the clinic we will visit they could recommend smth to get it stable. I also do my best to eat better, not get stressed because of the work and etc. but it's really hard. I would suggest you monitor your prolactin for a couple of months and if it's still up then definitely go to an endo ( find a very good one) that would afterwards redirect you to MRI if needed. Hope this helps and fingers crossed for the next pregnancy to be successful Flowers I am now in my 2 weeks wait so finger crossed for this one as well Grin If you have any other questions, let me know ;)

Mine was found incidentally when investigating irregular periods. Prolactin anywhere between 1200-1800 consistently. Referred to endo which is routine practice.
They will take a history and normally due a brain MRI to rule out prolactinoma (small ones don't always show though) and review any medications your on (many can elevate prolactin but not usually that high). Also take full thyroid/hormone blood tests and some conditions such as PCOS as raise prolactin too - this is what I was diagnosed with plus a tiny prolactinoma.
Likely give you some medication to lower prolactin levels which is effective quickly and monitor your bloods etc.
If further problems or issues conceiving or keeping pregnant then they will refer you to your local fertility specialists for further investigation/management.
I had my LO in the end without even taking medication so there's always hope out there xxx

Thanks for the replies! I have two appointments in the new year with an endochronologist. I am taking some vitamins and making improvements in the meantime.
