Anyone TTC AND start a new job?

Have just been offered a job with another company, am waiting to find out if the money's enough to tempt me over. If it is I will take it as it's a great opportunity and could offer so much more job satisfaction than my current job.

But I don't want to stop TTC.

Has anyone else been in this position and what happened when you told them you were pregnant?

I was planning to ttc shortly after I started a new job. I didn't say anything. I fell pregnant fairly quickly. I had just got married so I thought that they must realise I was likely to start a family, although the speed at which it happened came as a surprise

If you are at all unsure as to your new employer's reaction, I would keep your ttc quiet and then act all surprised when you get your BFP. Not very moral I know but hey ho

Best of luck with the job and the ttc

My friend started a new job and got pregnant 3 months in and they were really good about it..

At the end of the day a woman of child bearing age is often going to get pregnant at some point or other so employers must expect it!

Have you thought about maternity benefits though - you may not qualify if you haven't been there long.

I've been saving up for my time off as I'm currently freelance so don't qualify for much anyway. Was only planning to take 6 months off as that's all we could afford.

I was thinking, even if I did get a BFP there's no knowing if it will stick, so wouldn't even want to say anything till 3 months had gone...

Really wouldn't worry about this. I started a new job and we'd just started TTC, but it took us a little longer than we thought so I was well settled into the job by the time I had news of PG. You can't plan these things...

I totally agree - when we first started TTC I sat and worked out when holidays and xmas and weddings and things were in order for the pregnancy to fit in with them all - and still no BFP! So I think you really can't plan these things and just have to carry on living your life as you normally would and deal with it once the BFP arrives - Good luck with the new job by the way if you decide to go for it!!

Digitalgirl congratulations on your new job! Like the others have said you cannot plan ahead so if you feel this is right for you go for it. I started a new job just over two months ago and I was worried that DH would suggest that we take a break since we have been trying for a while now and the new job involved a big move for us and less maternity benefits. But he has been great and said that it was not an ?either/or? situation so we haven?t stop and hope to be successful really soon.

Good luck

Thanks ladies - although gilly haven't accepted it yet...although it's looking more and more tempting.

I think I will take the best option for my career for now. My cycles seem to be getting longer and longer (have just passed the 6 week mark) so a bfp could take a while with my shy/lazy eggs.

My DH also thinks that we shouldn't change our ttc plans but I should go for the new job if I really want to do it.

Am off to demand a fat salary .

If DH is fully behind you - then you should definitely go with whatever feels right for you

Good luck!
