Learning my cycle after stopping pill- confused

I stopped my pill (microgynon) end of August and it took 5 weeks for my first period to come. I know it can take up to 3 months so that's great it came, but I can't find any info on Google from this point!

I'm now tracking trying to learn my cycle (while beginning TTC) and based on a 30 day cycle I'm 3 days late. I've taken a cheap pregnancy test which was negative.

What I'm wondering is will it take a while to keep getting regular or now that I've had my first period should it be running like "normal?"already. When I was a teenager I had heavy regular periods, but was on the pill for 10 years.

Thank youSmile

Most women's periods go back to normal after 3 months of stopping the pill but it can take up to 6 months. Like you, I had heavy regular periods before going on the pill and cycle lengths of 28/29 days. I was on it for 4 years and came off 3 months ago. My 1st cycle was 21 days, 2nd and 3rd cycles 26 days. Lots of women on here have much longer cycles after stopping the pill, so that maybe what you're experiencing. It will be difficult to find information on Google because everyone's body is different and takes different times to find their normal. The fertility friend app is good for tracking your cycle and you might want to start charting BBT, overtime you'll start to see a pattern.

I'm 7 months off the pill and my cycles have been: 30 days, 35, 55, 32, 34. On the surface that doesn't look too bad, but I ovulate really late (earliest I've tracked so far is CD25) and have a short LP (last was 8/9 days), so seems my body is struggling to get back on track. It's disheartening but for some of us these things take time. Best thing I would recommend would be reading a simple TTC book like 'The Impatient Women's Guide to Getting Pregnant' which will help you understand your cycles. Personally at the moment I wouldn't say you're 'late' as you have no idea what your cycle will be like yet, and they can be very irregular for a while post pill x

These comments both make a lot sense and thank you for the book recommendation MintGreenLife.

It's good to hear some real life examples and makes me realise to just keep being patient!

Good luck both ☺️
