Any runners TTC?

Hi ladies, I'm a keen runner, I tend to run about 4 times a week totalling 20 miles max each week. BMI is 24.8 - I am really small so don't tend to take much notice of it! DH and I are TTC and on our 3rd cycle. Just wondered if anyone else was a keen runner and if it had any effect on your cycle or ability to conceive? Curious 🤔

I don’t think it affects your fertility unless your BMI drops so low that your periods stop.
I conceived my first 2 whilst I had a BMI of 18 (days long gone) and I ran about 40 miles a week (also long gone).
Good luck

Not a runner, but I do CrossFit 5/6 times a week which is very intense exercise. Conceived first cycle and will be continuing with it for as long as I can!

I read a lot about it when TTC and I think you only need to worry if you are doing the intensity of exercise that a career athlete would need to do. In the long run its good for you and baby to be fit and healthy. good luck, OP!

@Kirky658 I had the exact same worries!
I ended up cutting down on exercise one month- but that didn't work. The month I decided, screw this im not stopping doing what I love for another unsuccessful month, and re started high intensity stuff was the month I acctually fell pregnant. So do what makes you happy because its stress you want to avoid! Im 15 weeks now and running 1xweek as its a bit painful atm 😒

Yeah I agree with the other comments. As long as you’re having regular periods you are not over exercising and it’s something you enjoy so will keep your stress down if you are worrying about TTC.

I exercised and ran 2/3 times a week plus saw a PT and fell pregnant first time. Continued to see my PT until I was 16 weeks pregnant and ran up until 26 weeks but only because my back began to complain. All I would say is once you do fall pregnant make sure they measure your bump and if you feel like you have a small bump get checked. I measured small throughout my pregnancy and was never scanned or checked until I was induced and they suddenly said i was too small, great, now you tell me! I delivered a healthy boy but he was only just over 6lbs. I’m a tall and slim girl so that maybe why i didn’t show as much but to have them suddenly panic when I was about to give birth made me think next time I’ll be questioning ‘ am I measuring small what should I be and send me for a growth scan’ xx

Thank you all for your comments ladies I really appreciate them and it's so nice to know there's so many of you who run through pregnancy too! Just got to actually fall pregnant now 🤣 x
