BFP after seemingly normal AF

Hi all,
DH and I have been TTC for 6 months and had first ever BFP yesterday morning (on a cheapie and then an FR). Faint in DHs view but definitely not a squinter. We were very excited at first but now I'm a bit worried.
The confusing thing is I have already had AF, which seemed normal (flow of 4 days, included a few clots). 'AF' ended four days ago. The only reason why I tested is because my temp has been hovering around the cover line and I got a near positive OPK on what I thought was CD5 and CD6 so I was investigating what was going on (and probably a little hopeful!).

I have a short luteal phase so when my seemingly normal AF arrived at 8DPO it was a disappointment but not a huge surprise.
I will admit that I am a cheapie test addict so had tested before yesterday and they were all very clearly BFN so yesterday was the first positive test day.

I have another FR which I am going to use tomorrow and hopefully see progression but I am now concerned about possible ectopic because of 'AF', but I'm in no pain at all. I am also worried about viability as if natural cycles has timed my ovulation correctly I would be 17DPO and my test should probably be blazing by now, and probably should have been detectable earlier! I have no pregnancy symptoms at all.

Has anyone ever experienced this before? I am trying not to get excited! Confused

Xxx

I don't have any experience of this, but that's definitely a positive. I did speak to someone else a few months ago who had a similar experience x

Runforyourlifeitsagherkin · 13/10/2020 10:56

Wow how strange. Maybe call for a scan. That’s a clear positive.. x

CandleWick4 · 13/10/2020 10:58

Well that’s definitely positive. I’ve heard that some people can still have periods early on, I don’t have experience of that but I’m sure there will be someone on here who has. Fingers crossed for you OP!

I would call the EPU. An ectopic can't be diagnosed from pain alone - most people wouldn't experience pain for a few weeks after conception.

Without wanting to scare you, I would read this thread as the OP had a very similar experience.

Thanks for replying all! Smile I will update this thread when I know what's happening in case it is helpful to anyone in future as couldn't find any examples of normal AF which has stopped, followed by late BFP. @kirinm I will also definitely be calling up the EPU, thanks for sharing that thread, it sounds so scary!

This definitely sounds like what I had (it was my thread that’s linked), definitely get it checked out - after seeing this title I came straight to say this. Fingers crossed it’s ok for you!

Hi Bertyb7, hope you are well, was just wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing what your outcome was as I am having the same experience currently? Thank you! Really hope you had a positive outcome and are doing ok x

bertyb7 · 23/05/2021 11:31

Hi @Crazyhouseplantlady
Sorry that you are going though this stress too/ unfortunately it wasn't a good outcome- tests never darkened and started bleeding again 2 weeks after what I thought was my period. Still trying sadly.
When I was researching I did come accords lots of positive stories though so this doesn't mean it won't work out for you. Fingers are crossed for you.
