How soon is too soon?

I came off Noriday pill Sunday 27th September and period should be around 20th October. How soon is too soon to take a test?

I've noticed I've been extremely tired, nipples sensitive and my lower belly just feels strange to me and I've been having some slight twinges and weird feelings.

I could be completely overreacting and just hopeful thinking but want to know how soon is too soon to take a test.

Any advice would really help as I'm utterly clueless and haven't really got anyone to talk about it all xx

Have you had a period since your last pill? Tbh its unlikely you would’ve ovulated and implanted, it’s very common to have the symptoms you mentioned when coming off contraception as your hormones are going to be changing. If you think you could’ve ovulated at least 10 days ago then no harm in taking a test but if you’d been very good at taking the pill and only stopped it 2 weeks ago then it’s unlikely you’ve ovulated and implanted already x

Unfortunately @xoriea as the other poster said changes in hormones coming off the pill can mimic early pregnancy symptoms exactly.

The symptoms between ovulation and period where progesterone rises also feel exactly like that. As the pill stops ovulation, you wont have had these symptoms when on the pill.

You basically cannot trust symptoms in the 2WW and I would advise that in your TTC journey you only test when you have missed a period to avoid disappointment.

Bear in mind that your periods may also be all over the place coming off the pill - mine took 141 days to return! If that's the case I recommend the Post Pill TTC Party group on here.

No, not yet. I have the app Maya and track my periods etc on their religiously as they can already be all over the place which isn't helpful! I was in my fertile window around 5-7th of this month so maybe too soon I don't know. Thank you for replying :)

Thank you for replying! I'll hold off from taking a test just yet then Smile I've had periods throughout being on the pill but can be irregular. I'll join the group now, Thanks again x

Good luck! It took 4 months for me to have a period after coming off the pill in January but I’m now 9 weeks pregnant 🤞🏼🥰

Thank you! Did you have periods when on the pill? Congratulations 🎊

@xoriea the bleeds you have whilst on the pill do not count as proper periods, they are called breakthrough bleeds. Also your cycles are artificially controlled by the pill, so your cycles off the pill might be completely different to your cycles on the pill. Its interesting that you said your bleeds were a little 'all over the place' whilst you were on the pill, did you bleed when you missed a pill (as I did?)

With Noriday it was progesterone only and you didn't take a break with it to allow for period, it just came as usual and it's always been like a normal flow as to when I was on the coil before x
