First time charting BBT

I'm completely new to charting. DH and I agreed to start TTC after October's AF, which is due in a few days but ended up DTD anyway from CD 14 onwards.

I have an Ava fertility tracker and this is my first month tracking my temps. I thought I generally ovulated earlier, like CD 11-13 so assumed I missed ovulation this month but according to FF, it's as late as CD 16!

I have a 24-26 day cycle, which means my luteal phase is somewhere between 8-10 days long. Is that bad? And could we get pregnant this month despite the short luteal phase?

Bump. Anyone??

Also, just to add. The reason I didn't think we could conceive this cycle was because DH took a road trip abroad with a friend (during assumed O) and I flew in to meet him on CD 14 and I just thought pregnancy was off the table because O would have already happened and my egg would be long gone - but this new revelation of a later O date changes everything. This will be our first cycle trying (albeit not planned).

I actually wouldn't be surprised if you did ovulate earlier and CD16 was just a fallback rise and FF isn't recognising it as you don't have many temps recorded earlier in your cycle...maybe try temporarily adding a couple of low temps on CD7 & CD8 and see if it moves your crosshairs?

If you did ovulate on CD16 you may find your whole cycle is slightly longer this month or you may just have a short luteal phase. It's not a catastrophe if you do, my luteal phase was only 10 days when I got pregnant with DS so it's not a fertility death sentence

I'd say you probably ovulated on cd11 but FF doesn't have enough data to recognise it. After a few months it will be much more accurate

@unCliche Your temp drops right before you ovulate, then the day after it rises. So according to your chart, you could have ovulated on CD11 or CD16. An 8 day luteal phase is too short and would mean you're not producing enough progesterone. Generally 10 days is the minimum that you'd need to support a pregnancy. So it's probably likely you've ovulated on CD11 but you'll need to monitor other fertility signs to be sure. Look out for fertile cervical mucus and the position of your cervix, those along with temp should help you identify ovulation. I'm on CD05 and this will be my first cycle using BBT (3rd cycle trying).

Thanks guys. I guess you are right, more data is needed. The only thing that has me thinking it could be accurate is that I actually had EWCM twice around that time.

I thought that I'd have at least one complete cycle temping before TTC but as this has happened a cycle earlier, I don't have the data I can use to compare cycles.

An 8 day luteal phase is exactly what I don't want so if I go by my last cycle, which was 26 days, then I'll have a 10 day luteal phase (but then again, I have no idea when I ovulated last cycle!) but I hope it won't cause too much trouble TTC.

Let's see what happens with this anyway. I'm not too fussed if AF arrives anyway as we weren't really trying.
