Shettles Theory Using ClearBlue Ovulation Tests

Hello everyone 😊

So I'm trying to get pregnant for the second time...the first time I had a girl who is still being breastfed. She's 12 and a half months old and I got my period back a couple of weeks ago which means I'm now in my ovulation period.

I just wondered if anyone else has used ClearBlue Ovulation Tests and followed Shuttles Theory for gender selection and have been successful?

Last time I got pregnant we tried for 3 months before we had success. My husband works away Monday-Friday so it's difficult but last time we got pregnant it was the Christmas holidays and we didn't really care which gender we had (although a girl was slightly more favourable because his parents had 6 grandsons and no granddaughters - we had a girl - we win 😉). Last time I used the Fitbit app to track my ovulation and 'baby danced' (I've only just learnt that phrase - I find it hilarious) 4 days before my ovulation day. So using Shuttles theory I kind of predicted it'd be a girl (if the theory really works).

My husband is a big believer in only having as many kids as to replace yourselves because of overpopulation so he only wants two kids (which is fine by me cause I've always said 2 would be my ideal) although we want a boy next... so it's my last shot really!

So because I only got my period back two weeks ago (and the one before that was only a small bleed for about 4 days) I don't think my app would have had time to properly track ovulation/cycle. I bought the ovulation tests about 2 weeks before I found out I was pregnant last time, I haven't really used them before (I was convinced it was going to be another negative month until I started feeling dizzy and sick 😂 - the one month I was sure I wasn't pregnant - I actually was).

So I'm on my second day of high fertility, I figured to use Shuttles theory (and I know it's not necessarily accurate and some people don't believe in it but it worked for my brother and his wife so why not try!) I would have to wait for the peak smiley face.

It's Sunday now and my husband goes away tomorrow. I know it says to test once a day and use the first pee of the day but I'm going to try the test again tonight because obviously ovulation doesn't run on a clock's time. I'll also try again in the morning...but if I don't get a peak by tomorrow morning then I'll either have to try anyway or forget it for this month.

Anyway, I'm so sorry I've mostly waffled through this post! 😂 I was just curious to see what other people's experiences have been using ClearBlue and trying to use Shuttles theory? When did you 'baby dance', did you wait for peak or high and what gender did you have?

I wrote this post mostly for data collection 😊, again, sorry it's so long and distracting in places 😂

Xx

I was the same and googled the theory non stop before ttc. I didn’t use the clear blue ovulation tests but I always know when I’m ovulating by the pains. I felt the pains late on the Saturday night so I knew I was ovulating over the following hours so we dtd twice the next morning and I’m having a boy. I tried to time it as close to ovulation as possible as we wanted a boy and I’m convinced it was the timing! Others may disagree of course.

@Highheels87 that's something else I've never really experienced before is ovulation pain but since having my daughter I seem to have pains around ovulation! I thought it was my period coming early at first!

I had the pain a few days ago though I may be too late in relation to that 🤷🏼‍♀️ but according to ClearBlue I'm not - it's all so complicated! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Congratulations! I'm so happy you managed to get the gender you were hoping for! 😊 xx

I had my three children in the 90s before ovulation kits were invented but I could always tell when I was ovulating due to a cycle that was like clockwork.

Anyway, I'm as certain as I can be that all three of my sons were conceived on ovulation day. Good job I wanted boys Grin

@Jellybaby13 I never had them either before I had my two children but that may also be because I was always on hormonal contraception. I decided to just use condoms as I wanted to let my body have a break and we did this for a year and it was like clockwork after a few months so I could work out exactly when I was ovulating by monitoring cm and the pains, which have been horrendous at times lol. Thank you so much we are over the moon after two girls. My sister did the same too and had a boy having dtd at the point of ovulation. I definitely think there is some truth to the theory but guess it can never be guaranteed as all women are different, with different cycles. Good luck I hope you get your little boy too 🙂
