Ignore,

I am 5ft 1in and when i fell pg earlier (have a 4 week old)was 13 1/2 stone, so i am about 5 stone over weight.

I was also told not to put on any weight during this pregency, by my Doctor. To be fair i didn't feel hungry and only ate at mealtimes.

Within a week of having dd2 i went from 14st 4lb (at the end of pg) to 12st 9lb.

I've always been overweight in pregnancy (and the rest of the time come to that) - doctors have wanted me to have a GTT 'just in case' - both times - in the absence of any evidence to suggest a valid concern - I told them to forget it. I did try to watch what I ate - which is a good idea anyway - and kept active - still cycling at 39 weeks No problems of any sort and produced healthy babies of average weight. Good Luck!

Overwight when tried for DD and never any comments from GP or MW, and still overwieght and trying for No 2, so don't listen to anyone but yourself and your body.

I hate reading that anyone is a 'drain' on the NHS.

Surely anybody that is ill is a drain on the NHS? And that's what they are there for aren't they?

You say you are only slightly overweight - as long as you know you are fit and healthy then go for it and don't worry what anybody else says to you.

Thanks, go 2mrw so i am building myself up to tell her silly i know but i just cant help it

I was 17.4 when I fell pg and 20.10 a week after giving birth! I did suffer, but not via the NHS, but then I'm very obese whereas you are only slightly overweight. Nobody ever mentioned my weight, although it's obvious that women over a certain size aren't supposed to have sex...try getting maternity clothes in a size 20!

fedupwasherwoman · 16/10/2007 14:56

I'm a very overweight (but currently dieting successfully) older mother and managed to work really late into my pregnancies. The midwife kept asking me "haven't you stopped working yet ?" and appeared to be disappointed that I did not suffer any swelling/puffiness even during a hot summer.

Take heart that you may even initially lose weight after the pregnancy through prolonged morning sickness and healthier eating, just like I did.

It's none of the practice nurse's business if you want to try for another baby. Enjoy yourself and stop worrying if you're only slightly overweight.

Holly I was 5ft7 and just under 20stone each time I have become pregnant. With my first[ds] I worked until 39wks with no problems despite him being a 9lb baby when born.dr is talking bollocks, I had no issues in pregnancy or labour that no other mother would have had so feck them all and go for it if its what you want.

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 16/10/2007 15:47

Hi I am 18 stone and 12+3 weeks PG this is my second child i was 21 stone when gave birth to my first i must say this time around i am getting back ache but thats it although because I have a raised BMI (37) I am 5'10 they have booked me in for consultancy lead care and a GGT but i also have Group B strep so will be a tad more a strain on the NHS anyway

Holly78 · 18/10/2007 16:18

Thanks x well i say slightly overweight i am 16 stone but i am 5'7, when i was talking to a friend that is pg she says midwifes gave her a really embarassing comment about being overweight, at an antenatal class and how much extra stress it puts on the midwife units because they have to give extra scans due to overweight mothers with a fat abdomen!!.I think i will die if they say that to me xx

if you are slightly overweight i do not think it is a problem. just watch your weight gain during pregnancy.
