Early miscarriage and aspirin

Looking for some advice, I've had 2 early miscarriages this year, I think I read on here somewhere about recurrent miscarriages being treated with a small dose of aspirin, does anyone have any advise as I've tested positive again this morning and the previous 2 times have gone on to miscarry a few days later. Thank you

I’ve had an early loss this year and afterwards I asked the doctor about it and they didn’t recommend it for me. However, I would suggest calling your own doctor to ask for advice as I think it can be different depending on your own situation. I’d be reluctant to start without speaking to a doctor x

I had 3 recurrent MCs. All my blood tests with GP came back normal. Spoke to my doctor to about aspirin. They advised me that they weren’t trained enough in that area of expertise to advise it and that I would need to speak obstetrics once I’m seen in the recurrent miscarriage clinic, which could take months on a waiting list or if I can pay privately. I asked my doctor if I was contradicted for aspirin (which I wasn’t) and that will he put it on my file that I was going to buy it myself and take it based in my own research. (I wanted it on my file just incase anything were to happen to me like an accident and they needed to know I was on a blood thinner). My doctor was happy to do so.
So I started myself on 150mg aspirin daily. I fell pregnant again, I am now nearly 15 weeks. And at my first 6 week scan my midwife told me to start taking aspirin but was pleased to hear I was already on it. At my 12 week appointment I was seen by the consultant, who again told me to stay on the aspirin until 37 weeks as long as all was ok.

So my advice is that it works, well it has for me. But normal GPs aren’t that knowledgeable in miscarriages. But I would advise them u are planning on taking it and for it to be on ur file and to ensure there isn’t any other medical reason u have that would contradict u taking it. The dose is so low most obstetricians say it can’t do any harm anyway. Of course stop taking if U start bleeding.

Best of luck

I was wondering the exact same! I've had 2 chemical pregnancies since starting TTC this year and I've recently bought some low dose aspirin at 75mg and I'm just going to take it when I get my next BFP as I will try anything that might help! I also thought about asking the GP beforehand but then realised it probably wouldn't be much help as they are unlikely to prescribe or agree to it as fertility specialists would be the ones to advise on it which sounds like what @2020wish found to be the case.

Thank you for everyone's replies, I think I'll try and get a telephone consultation with my GP but agree @2020mission that they might not want to commit either way. There's lots of research online but it's all very conflicting

Thanks to everyone for posting and sharing. I too have lost two babies this year and my friend who is now 30+ weeks pregnant has previously lost two babies. Her consultant prescribed her folic acid and aspirin - this time round her pregnancy is going well!
I'm also looking into this but was keen to get some medical input first so I think I'll reach out to the GP first abs see what they say - I'll go armed with some research!
