TTC with PCOS

Hello everyone,

So, DP and I have started off on the rocky road to trying to conceive our first. I'm knocking 35, have long-diagnosed PCOS so am aware this may take some time. For full disclosure, I have been pregnant before but terminated (8 ish years ago).

I appreciate there's no 'rule of thumb' when it comes to these things, but would be very reassuring to hear stories from those with PCOS who managed to conceive around my age. How long did it take you, and did you require and intervention? We've had Clomid mentioned by the doctor, but don't feel quite ready for that yet.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hey, I'm 30, have pcos too (diagnosed 6 years ago) and have been ttc for a year. No joy unfortunately but my doctor did say the pcos may not have any impact on my chances. Apparently you can be diagnosed with pcos if you have any 2 out of 3 symptoms - irregular periods, hormone imbalance and/or visible cysts on the ovaries. If you haven't had a scan to confirm the cysts it might be worth doing even to put your mind at rest. I had been diagnosed 2 years before getting the scan and I was thinking the worst! My scan was clear so technically I have pcos but my ovaries look fine. The doctor who sent me for the scan said many doctors just see pcos as an easy diagnosis. Anyway, hope this helps and best of luck!

Hey @BettyCrockaShit
I was diagnosed with PCOS in my teens and am now pregnant with my second at 34. I conceived my first naturally aged 31 very unexpectedly - and conceived this time around with the help of letrozole. Some doctors prescribe letrozole rather than clomid as it has less side effects (I had none whatsoever which was great!) - and some studies have shown a higher chance of getting pregnant with it rather than clomid. Once I was on the right dose of letrozole, I fell pregnant on the second round.
Hope that helps!x

Thanks so much for sharing your situation with me @bb30 - like you, ive long been diagnosed with 2 symptoms. Fingers crossed it won't make too much of a difference in the long run - best of luck to you!
