Any OvuSense stories?

So after completing all of our tests with a fertility specialist and results showing everything is normal (aside from me being older - 38), I’ve decided to buy an OvuSense fertility tracker.

I already have 3 children from a previous relationship so any fertility treatment such as ivf would need to be done privately and I’m not sure we can afford it, or in all honesty want to go that route at all, so we figured for the next 2 years (until I reach 40 - my personal cut off point), we might as well give it all a shot. I’ve never done bbt or anything, just taken cheapy opk’s so will be interesting to see what this shows. My test results all indicate that I am ovulating and scans and tests have shown I have tons of follicles so I’m hoping at some point we’ll get that good quality egg that sticks!

We only ordered it last night so it won’t arrive until next week, but I’m only cd7 and it says you can start using it anytime before cd20 so looking forward to see if it will pick up ovulation this month as it claims to be able to predict onset of ovulation after just 3 days wearing it.

Just wondered if anyone else is using one or thinking of getting one?

I was using a Daysy bbt tracker for about 18 months and not getting regular signs of ovulation. I got an Ovusense and used both that and the Daysy for a few months - the Daysy denied I'd ovulated, ovusense said I had, then my CD21 blood test confirmed I had.

After nearly 2 years TTC without so much as a squinter I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant, and I think that it's partially down to DTD in the predicted fertile window. Interestingly, the month of my BFP my Daysy still didn't think I'd ovulated - either its an immaculate conception or the ovusense was more accurate! 😂

@PlanBea that’s amazing! Congratulations on your bfp!!!

I mean I’m not expecting miracles as the main reason we’ve had issues is due to my age and (likely) poorer quality eggs. But it will at least be reassuring to know that hopefully this can help us pinpoint the best days to dtd so we can concentrate our efforts at the right time! Opk’s I’ve found can be so hit and miss, I’ve had months where I know I’ve ovulated but missed catching the peak on the tests, so had I been going by those alone, I’d have assumed I hadn’t ovulated at all!

Just excited to start using it and have some more insight into things.

Thank you for replying xx

How weird that we posted almost around the same time about ovusense @Moominmiss I’m 39 which is the reason I purchased the sensor too. Good luck!

Waiting2BAMummy · 19/09/2020 11:45

Should we start calling you Mary @PlanBea?! 😂

PlanBea · 19/09/2020 11:47

Good luck with it! I think it being an internal thermometer and so something you do before going to sleep makes it more reliable - remembering to take your temperature before even blinking too hard was a lot of pressure! I never really got on with OPKs either as they don't confirm ovulation, just say when your LH surge was (which can be one of several in a cycle!) - and after 3 months you can have a free consultation with a fertility nurse too!

PlanBea · 19/09/2020 11:56

@Waiting2BAMummy haha, I know all too well the worries of TTC and like to do my bit to ease them for other people! I know the science of it all (I'm a biomedical scientist in real life) but my body didn't catch up for way too long - it's so long waiting from one month to the next too it gives you loads of time to stress out which doesn't help!!

Moominmiss · 19/09/2020 12:03

@Waiting2BAMummy I saw that as soon as I’d posted my thread! Lol.

Good luck to you too! Have you been trying long? I’m now on cycle 12 of trying. But have had 3 losses in that time (more reason why I’m certain it’s my age and bad eggs that’s my problem).

Just want it to arrive now!

@PlanBea that’s exactly why I never attempted temping before. I knew I’d never be able to reliably take my temperature at the same time each morning before doing anything. Plus I usually get up to use the toilet in the night and after reading about OvuSense I saw that lots of women do too and it doesn’t affect it, so that was my main reason for choosing it!

I’ve been trying for almost 2 years @Moominmiss had a chemical pregnancy in March but other than that no hint of a BFP.

Have you heard of COQ10/ Ubiquinol? I started taking this after my chemical as I’ve heard it can improve egg quality in older women who are TTC.

Moominmiss · 19/09/2020 12:19

@Waiting2BAMummy ah I’m sorry to hear you’re also on a long ttc journey, and for your loss. It’s really heartbreaking.

Yes! I read about ubiquinol on here a while ago so I take 200mg a day. I’ve been taking it for about 3 months now as I’d heard it can improve egg quality 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Sorry for your losses too it’s awful to finally get that BFP and then it all be over @Moominmiss. I think they say you have to take COQ10 for at least 3 months before it starts to help so hopefully you’ll be pregnant with your rainbow baby soon. Fingers crossed for you x

I started using the Ava bracelet about 2 months before my 40th birthday after ttc for just under a year. I fell pregnant a month after turning 40 and had a chemical pregnancy in between. It's all just a variation of bbt monitoring but these apps all get you to understand your body and your cycle.

Floofsquidge · 19/09/2020 14:16

Sorry just reread my post and looks vague so just to add that pregnancy was successful!
