Intralipids in Scotland??

Hello, hoping someone can help me...does anyone know where I might be able to have intralipid infusions in Scotland? I’ve had IVF at the Zita West clinic in London and need to find somewhere up here that will administer them for me. YourGP in Edinburgh have messed me around and are now saying they can’t do it. GCRM aren’t accepting external patients at the moment - any ideas would be most welcome, I’d rather not travel back to London for it Smile. Thanks in advance!!!

Hey, I just wondered if you ever got these in Scotland? I’m looking at going to ZW from Glasgow and trying to figure out if I should cycle up here again instead if I can get intralipids locally? Many thanks! Xx

Hello! I had a nightmare to be honest - ended up having to go down to Manchester for my second intralipids (I had the first at ZW in London). I would REALLY recommend ZW though, they were amazing and there was a massive difference in results. It’s early days but I’m 6 weeks pregnant after three previous failed cycles in Scotland). I felt they left no stone unturned. I had a cycle at GCRM a few years ago and they were ok but not much difference between them and NHS treatment.

The intralipids were a hassle though - I phoned so many places up here and no-one would do it. Most said due to Covid!
Good luck with whatever you decide to do!! Xx

Hello, I just googled intralipid infusions and came across this site! So good to see there are other people in the same boat. This is a very lonely position to be in.
I have had numerous cycles with the GCRM in Glasgow over the last 3 years and now just starting treatment at Zita West in London. My bloods have been sent off to USA and I am also looking to have intralipid infusions done locally in Scotland. Did you have any luck finding anywhere? Also did you travel to Zita West for every appointment or did you have your trigger injection, scans, and bloods done locally? I hope so🤞 I previously attended a GCRM satellite clinic in Dundee so hopefully they will do most of the procedures? Xx

Hi did you have any luck with finding a place for the intra lipids in Scotland.?

Endoftheroad41 · 19/04/2021 16:42

Hi,
Yes I booked my intralipid infusions with the GCRM clinic in Glasgow. At the moment they offer appointments on Wednesday afternoons.

Weekitkat · 19/04/2021 18:30

Thank you for replying. Can I just ask how much it costs per infusion?

Endoftheroad41 · 19/04/2021 21:36

Hey,
No worries. I think it was about £375 per infusion. I am a patient of the Zita West and they advised me to Book 3 infusions and I was told to go fortnightly so I had my last one last Wednesday so am due for egg collection this Week. It is a lady doctor at the GCRM- Dr Samra who consults at the GCRM one day a week that did all of my infusions. She only works there on a Wednesday. It is pretty quick- in and out for an infusion in less than 30mins and they gave me a late afternoon appointment. It looks like a bag of egg whites!
I see another person wrote that GCRM don’t take any external patients - I am not sure if that is still the case or if they were restricting patient numbers due to covid so perhaps with restrictions lifting it would be ok. I have been a patient of the GCRM clinic in Glasgow for 3 years prior to going to Zita West so maybe that’s why they said yes to me. Hope that helps. Don’t hesitate to message back if you think of anything else 😁

Hi
Thank you for the information. That's really helpful. Gcrm will see new patients but charge £50 for each visit on top of whatever treatment you're having. I a patient at glasgow royal fertility clinic. I had success there with my daughter, first time with ivf so thought I'd stick with them.
I was thinking about having the immune tests at zita West or just go for the nk biopsy with Dr quenby. Feel like I should probably go for the immune blood tests. Did you manage to get any immune blood tests on the NHS through your gp before you decided to go to zita West?
What immune tests did you end up having at zita West.?
If you don't mind me asking, have you had success since you had your treatment with the infusions etc
It's nice to be able to talk to someone from Scotland!

Weekitkat · 20/04/2021 02:04

Hi
It's me again. Sorry. Just wanted to ask how long it was before you got your blood tests back from zita West and did you need to wait long before you got an appointment? What was your overall experience at the clinic? How did you get your medication. Did the clinic post out a prescription or did GCRM supply you with the medication. We're you just on the intra lipids only? Did you need any infusions afyer you had the 3 that you mentioned. I'm just trying to figure out the costs for treatment. I know the blood tests are about £2000. If you could provide any info that would be really helpful.
Thank you in advance.

Hey,

I have had nothing at all through the NHS. I visited my own GP back on 2016 and asked for help with fertility and was told to keep trying naturally and come back in a year.
I did come back in a year and I was told I would be added to waiting list for IVF and why didn't I come sooner?
It took 6 months to get an appointment with Ninewells hospital which is closest to me and when i saw them they advised that they had a waiting list of 1 year by which time I would be too old to meet their criteria.
Success rate - I have no children.
I have been attending GCRM in Glasgow since 2017 and all in I have had 6 miscarriages. 5 pregnancies were a result of IVF and one naturally whilst having a break from IVF. It was always the exact same protocol at the GCRM for every cycle. My drugs were the same every time and I was never offered any alternatives or additions like the intralipids.

Ok so the Zita West don't actually do the blood tests themselves, they operate a satelite clinic. Bloods get done at "The Doctors Laboratory," Wimpole Street, London and yes its about £2000. Its a walk in clinic and from 7am -7pm Mon-Fri, different times at the weekend. I jumped on the train to London, jumped in a taxi to the lab, waited 10 mins, got my bloods done and headed back to the station for Scotland. You just give your name and patient number for the Zitawest at reception.
The egg collection through the Zita west is actually carried out at another place called Care Fertility London, I am going there on Friday and this will be my first and probably last cycle with Zita West as I think I am done now.

I got the special blood immune tests done at the Doctors Laboratory, and I understand the bloods are sent off to Chicago for testing. They tested for 20 different things. Results come back in a couple of weeks. I have abnormally high killer cells so I have not got a problem getting pregnant, I have a problem staying pregnant. So thats why they recommended the intralipid infusions and a course of lots of vitamins and a healthy diet. My medication that I take at the moment with Zita West - all the drugs come from a company called Pharmasure, they call you, you pay over the phone and you get a DPD delivery to your house. The cost of the drugs through ZitaWest is over £2000 as well.

For the intralipid infusions at the GCRM- they provide the drugs- it is literally a small bag of white fluid. The Zita West havent recommended any further Intralipid infusions for the moment so I think just the three of them so around £1100.

Hello there

I’m currently doing my 2nd ICSI cycle at the Barbados Fertility Clinic and is moving to Scotland. I’m currently in need of several rounds of intralipid Infusion so I’m looking for a clinic that offers it in Scotland rather than shlepping to London for every treatment which may be every month.

I would appreciate it if someone can assist me with this info as Google hasn’t been so helpful so far. As most I found is in England and I’m looking at the hassle to travel there.

Thank you!

ifu033111 · 05/10/2023 14:40

Hi, I might be wrong but I don’t think you can get intralipids administered anywhere in Scotland clinics. I certainly couldn’t find anywhere a couple of years ago. I ended up getting a private nurse to my house to do them at home as I had my treatment in London and didn’t want to travel back and forth either so they sent me the intralipids and nurse did the administering. Good luck with all your treatment

Vickster37 · 05/10/2023 15:55

Hello! I think GCRM in Glasgow do it - good luck!
