clomid delay ovulation?

Hello,

I am trying to conceive after a misscarriage. I have PCOS and have extremely irregular cycle ranging 34-53 days.
I was always charting my bbt and i can say that i have always ovulated.
This month after a long cycle of 51days, my doctor has prescribed clomid 50 mg cycle day2-6, my day21 progesterone came less then 1 so didn’t ovulated. But its cycle day 45 and no period infact no sign of ovulation as my temperature is still low.

I observed spotting multiple times during cycle but spotted a little heavy from cycle day 37-42 but nothing like periods.
Extremely frustated and tensed, has anybody experienced this with clomid?
Does clomid causes late ovulation or will cause any adverse impact ?

Please suggestsad

Hello, May I know your outcome? I’m in the same boat :(

TTC01 · 05/07/2023 22:00

@TTCRainbowBubs ,
i got my periods somewhere around after 70 days, clomid doesn’t suited me at all and even thought i was prescribed for 3 cycles, I didn’t took it.
Funny thing is my doctor retired before suggesting anything else and i then went to private route to conceive.

shoot out any more question you may have.

one suggestion don’t take clomid and pregnacare multivitamins if you have pcos. It messed up my cycles..

I think its most likely your cycle was messed up after your miscarriage, not the clomid.
If you didn't ovulate on clomid it's because you didn't respond to that dose. What they would have done is increase your dose next cycle. Women respond to different doses .some respond to 50mg, others need 100mg ect to ovulate.

Thank you for your response @PinkMandalorian my confusion is that my gynecologist saw two follicles at 12mm on day 12 and said I would ovulate on day 17….

@TTCRainbowBubs
Have you had a progesterone test after your scan? It's usually done anywhere from 5-10 days after suspected ovulation. Commonly its done around 1 week afterwards.
Without knowing the results of your progesterone tests its difficult to know what has happened.
P.s your gynaecologist saw two follicles at 12mm.. therefore clomid has done its job for you in stimulating follicles and recruiting them.

Op hasn't stated weather she had a follicle tracking scan or not

Hi love, I totally understand your frustration — I’ve been in a very similar situation myself. I also have PCOS and struggled with long, irregular cycles while trying to conceive after a miscarriage. My doctor prescribed Clomid (50 mg) as well, and honestly, it worked really well for me without any serious side effects.

I took it on cycle days 2–6, just like you, and my ovulation was slightly delayed the first round — it didn’t happen right on time, but it did happen! My BBT confirmed it about a week later than expected. So yes, Clomid can sometimes delay ovulation, especially in the first cycle as your body adjusts. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not working — just that your body might need a little extra time.

In my case, I ovulated on cycle day 19 during the first round, and on CD16 the second round. I got pregnant on my third cycle with Clomid. It’s so important to keep tracking your BBT, and maybe use OPKs too, since ovulation can shift while on these meds.

Also — and this made a big difference for me — I made sure to get high-quality Clomid from a trusted source. I ordered mine from this pharmacy: curecarry.com/categories/Woman's-Health/Clomid. The package came really fast and the quality was great. I felt much more confident using a pharmacy that’s been reliable for others too.

Don't lose hope — I know this is emotionally exhausting, but your body is doing its best. Sometimes it takes a cycle or two to find the right rhythm with Clomid. Keep tracking, stay gentle with yourself, and give it a little more time! ❤️
