I am starting ttc this month and I've seen so many posts with mentions about ovulation tests, basal thermometers and all sorts and I'm feeling a tad overwhelmed lol. What are your conception top tips and top things to help? I've been using the flo app to track my periods for the last couple of months but is there any better?
Thanks!

Read - "taking charge of your fertility"

It changed my life Smile

The flo type apps help predict periods but they can't predict ovulation as they are based on the calendar method. When you ovulate is entirely unique to you and can change at each cycle by a few days. The book above explains everything much better than I can.

DTD!

In all honesty my advice would be to start having unprotected sex, see where it leads you and if no where then go from there.

Losing weight. This really helped me. I was about 4stone over weight. Lost it and convinced first month my bmi was healthy after 18months.
Obviously might not apply to you.

What @nancyjuice7 said! Pay attention to cm changing.

My best advice is to try and keep an open mind and always remind yourself that even if you dtd at the best time of your cycle the chances of getting pregnant are only 25-30%, so don’t beat yourself up if it’s bfn! Another one is that sex is for fun so try to enjoy it as much as possible because this will make your whole ttc journey easier. I would buy a thermometer from amazon and download the fertility friendly app and start recording your bbt along with any other signs such as cm and positive opks. 🤞 for you

My best advice would be to DTD every other day (but educate yourself a bit so you know when your fertile window would be... but then carry on a bit later in case you ovulate late).

That is all I would do. I became obsessed looking at forums and it did me no good. My periods became more painful and more irregular!

The month I fell pregnant, I tried to relax, didn't keep thinking 'what if I'm pregnant?' and it worked! I also used concieve plus lube. Not sure if that helped tbh but if DTD every other day and not always feeling in the mood it can help!

It's normal for it take up to a year to get pregnant. Don't panic!

Hello @Baker0104! I’m in the same position, ttc number one- information overload! I’ve been using Flo for a few months to track my period before TTC and it’s great, but as @nancyjuice7 says, it isn’t accurate with ovulation. I used the OPK strips out of curiosity, and my predicted ovulation on Flo was 4 days off 🙈

While I enjoy looking into things, I didn’t realise I was actually frazzling my brain with it all! Good luck with everything x

Baker0104 · 05/09/2020 09:33

Thank you everyone! This has put me all at ease! I'll just try and chill a little bit at the beginning and see how it goes 😊

@Frenchfry2 which opk's are you using out of interest? There's so many types lol.

@happylittlechick working on this one lol. Quite a way to go before I'd be in 'normal' bmi but hoping just a little bit will increase my chances x

@Baker0104 I've used so many different OPKs and found the best ones are easy@home and then track them in Premom app.

Frenchfry2 · 05/09/2020 11:17

@Baker0104 I used the easy@home ones too. It’s a bit of trial and error at first but the Premom app is great for helping you track them. I’ve never used them until this cycle but they have been handy! I got them from Amazon
