BBT/OPK help - what order?

Hi, looking for some help please!

Long story short I have not had a period in 14 months since coming off the pill (I know Shock!)...

I went for a private fertility scan last week and the Dr told me I had a 17 mm follicle on my left ovary so expected it to rupture in 'a few days' so to make sure we were BD'ing just in case.

I'd been loosely tracking BBT the last few months but quickly ordered some OPKs online.

I wondered what I should expect to see if I ovulate... do I watch the OPKs for a positive and the BBT should confirm ovulation by showing a spike afterwards? Or should the temp spike be at the same time?

New to this - any help would be much appreciated Smile thanks x

Do both. Use the OPKS to show you leading up to ovulation - you should see the test line getting darker to indicate. Your fertile period is mostly the days leading up to your peak then around 48 hours after. It will likely coincide with an increase in CM (though maybe not noticeably, depends on your cycles). Your bbt will then confirm after ovulation. Really recommend CB advanced digital if you're new to OPK as they make it very clear when you're in your window.

Also there are things you can be prescribed (clomid, I think?) that can stimulate ovulation. Definitely talk to your GP for help getting your cycles back!

Thanks so much for the info. I'll definitely look in to getting the CB one. I've seen it mentioned a few times on here.

Yeah I suspect I've got PCOS but my GP doesn't think so.
I've had bloods taken which confirm all is normal apart from progesterone, which makes sense since I don't have a cycle. Since I don't have raised testosterone i can't be referred for an ovarian scan on the NHS, hence going private last week. (I'm still on the NHS waiting list to see the fertility clinic but expect it'll be months due to Covid so got impatient/worried due to no cycle and went private).

I'm due my full results from my private scan and bloods towards the end of this week but the Dr said at the time about the follicle on my ovary so I don't miss potential ovulation.

It will be a very weird coincidence if I ovulate now after 14 months Confused

Thanks for your help x

It would be but you never know! I have a friend with PCOS currently pregnant with her second daughter and both times she caught ovulation despite having no cycle.

Don't be afraid to make demands of your GP. They're stretched but there are things they can try.
