TESCO PREGNANCY TESTS..?

ttc97 · 23/08/2020 10:26

Hello!

Just wondering if anybody's ever had any experience using the Tesco's pregnancy tests..?

I took four in total this week, and each one has a very faint positive line, and one of them definitely showed up within the 10 minutes.
I have read that they are prone to nasty evap lines, and so I'm really torn as to what to think about the results I've got from them.

I have since used a FRER and also Clear Blue - both of which are negative 😭

I can't believe Tesco are allowed to sell these, if they are so prone to evaps!!!

What do you guys think..? I've included my results below, and would love your opinions 💕

Unfortunately I would trust the FRER and Clear Blue over the Tesco tests. Practically every single Tesco test I've seen on these boards looks like yours. I can only imagine it's a manufacturing fault that effects all Tesco tests. I'm guessing that some of the reagent in the horizontal and control line is being applied to the vertical line when they're made. So they're all reporting very faint false positives.

Fingers crossed I'm wrong but I also don't see any line progression. 😔

When is your period due?

Thank you, I think you're right. How awful and heartbreaking for so many women.. this could seriously knock you if TTC and having no luck 😔

I had my Implant remover 4th August and haven't had AF yet, was told by the nurse that removed it to expect AF this week but so far absolutely no sign whatsoever...
I'm not sure when it'll come, but I know you can ovulate as soon as it's removed, and I believe she said 80-90% of women will ovulate 3 weeks after removal, but I haven't! X

If you only had the implant out 2 weeks ago I thjnk it's extremely unlikely you would have conceived by now. You would have had to ovulate within like 2 days of having it out. Not impossible but unlikely. So may still be a chance this month.

Good luck with everything though. I am having my coil out in the 1st so just a month behind you hopefully!

ttc97 · 23/08/2020 11:00

@Bells3032 yes, exactly what I'm thinking too.. it's just so strange having gotten 4 faint positives, I think these tests must be faulty.
I can't believe they're allowed to sell products that are so unreliable! Could be so heartbreaking for so many people 😓

Best of luck to you! 🤞🏼

I can't believe they still sell these tests to be honest as I've had a good few lines like this and have turned out not to be pregnant. I even left a negative review on the Tesco website about it and I never do that. I hope it isn't the case for you of course, but it's just wild to me that there are so many instances of this happening and they don't seem to be doing anything about it.

Curiosity101 · 23/08/2020 11:10

I agree with the PP, it's highly likely you're testing too early even if you have ovulated and conceived. When I got my implant out I ovulated 13 days later, so in your situation I'd be 6DPO and it's be almost a week before I'd expect to test.

A person's period, on average, arrives 12-14 days after ovulation if they've not conceived. So you'd expect your period to arrive anywhere from 4-6 weeks after the implant is removed if you've not fallen pregnant.

I agree with you about the Tesco tests. I feel so much for anyone who is TTC and gets a false positive, it must be so heart breaking 😔

Crossing my fingers for you for this month 🤞

Ajahd · 23/08/2020 11:20

It does sound unlikely that you will have ovulated and gotten pregnant in time, however I got a negative on a clear blue, did a tesco test and got a faint positive. I had taken a tesco test 2 days prior which i thought was negative, fished it out the bathroom bin and it was also positive, I just hadn't looked hard enough at the time or maybe the lighting was poor as it was definitely positive! I was definitely pregnant as I'm currently 36 weeks! We had been trying for 18 months and I always used tesco tests and never had a hint of a positive or evap line until I was actually pregnant. Might be worth waiting a week or two and doing another test.

ttc97 · 23/08/2020 11:36

@somanystars I agree, I think it's probably a negative for me to be honest but then again may be way too soon to test anyway. Just find it so strange that 4 of them all had the same result, and all look pretty much the same! So weird.
I think there should be an investigation or something carried out on these tests, as they could really be damaging peoples mindset 😭

I have had 4 faint positives aswell am going to get a pink dye one tomorrow but i will be absolutely gutted if its not positive as i have set myself for it being positive x

ttc97 · 23/08/2020 15:23

@Newtothis12 I've got my fingers crossed for you lovely🤞🏼
Sadly I've taken a few pink dye ones, and also. clear blue and FRER and they are all negative, so unless it's just really early days for me, I don't believe I'm pregnant this time sadly 😭😔 so disappointed in the Tesco tests. X

I got two false positives with these this cycle :(

PutOnAHappyFace · 23/08/2020 17:34

These Tesco tests should be took off the shelves. I had positives within 1 min of taking the tests that were evaps. It's really cruel.

ttc97 · 23/08/2020 17:52

@octobersky19 I'm so sorry to hear that, it's so frustrating.. I really do feel for everybody that has felled victim of these awful tests. I really believed for just a moment that this could have been it.. took a FRER and clear blue and they were stark white.. not even a faint positive. So sad 😓

OP posts:
ttc97 · 23/08/2020 17:53

@PutOnAHappyFace
They really should be! It's a disgrace that they're available. So many people will be devastated by these. I'm so glad I took another test with a more reputable brand to double check. So frustrating though and what a waste of money!!

Curiosity101 · 23/08/2020 18:14

@ttc97 I know it's disappointing but you can't count yourself out. I don't know if you noticed my reply above but your period won't be due for 4-6 weeks after coming off of the implant. It just depends on exactly when you ovulate.

You could even have ovulated and conceived but it's just too early right now. Fingers crossed for you 🤞. Definitely best to stick to either the internet cheapie dip tests or reputable brands though.

ttc97 · 23/08/2020 18:36

@Curiosity101 thank you! Yes I agree, not getting my hopes up in any way as I don't want to feel disappointed! I didn't think I was pregnant this month anyway but had been feeling really nauseous etc and just thought I'd see! I was really shocked to have gotten 4 'positives' so took a clear blue and FRER but of course they were negative.

Oh well! Will try again! Can't let it get me down! Xx

The Asda tests are better if you're after supermarket cheapies, I had positives straight away on Poundland strips as well. But I have had SO many false positives and false negatives on Tesco cheapies, I had a CP and Tesco was still giving me positives weeks later, which was so confusing and horrible. Whereas when I was actually pregnant, they were negative, took Poundland ones that were positive and I'm now 8 weeks pregnant with Hyperemesis to prove it! 🤢
Good luck!!

ttc97 · 23/08/2020 19:52

@RosieJess91 congratulations on your pregnancy! So exciting 🥰😍
Thank you for the recommendations - I will have a little look into those!
Sadly I've pretty much ruled out pregnancy this month, those Tesco tests have really given be a bit of a knock 😓 oh well! Always next month.. 💕

I know this thread is old, but just incase anyone is reading it like I am. I always get false positive Tesco brand tests. I’m took two of them two days ago at 2DPO and the first had a light positive and the second was a little bit darker. I only took them to see if they were notorious for false positives like other threads say and I can confirm they definitely are very bad for it! I don’t know why they still have them on shelves….
