I have a 5 1/2 month DD after a year of trying, I’m now concerned I’m pregnant again after having protected sex, I’m late for my period, I feel odd, you know when you know? I’ve took a test and it’s the faintest line, to the point where I’m concerned I may be convincing myself it’s a positive.. we’ve used condoms every time and not had any split to our knowledge.. anyway this is where I need advice.. I had an emergency section with my DD and I was advised at the time to not get pregnant in the next 2 years... is it dangerous? Will the doctors convince me to abort if I am pregnant? I’m so worried as I had such a horrible birth and aftercare, please advise. I’m terrified.

I'd recommend retesting in a couple of days with something like a FRER, that should give you a clear answer as to whether you're pregnant or not.

If you are pregnant, and you only need to cross that bridge if you are. Then you'll need to book in with the midwife as usual and discuss all your options if you want to keep the baby. The midwife (and presumably consultant) will be able to talk you through your options and the risks. They cannot make you get rid of a baby but they can advise you of the risks of your particular situation.

I don't know why you had the section or if you have any other conditions etc. But a section alone isn't a reason to wait for 2 years. You are normally advised to wait a minimum of 6 months after a section before getting pregnant again, and a year or more is preferred. But a year tends to be the benchmark that they advise you to wait. It's normally based around making sure you're fully healed and that your scar is as strong as it can be ready to support a new pregnancy.
