Going to TTC 2021

So I'm planning on TTC from sometime next year and I'm on a waiting list to get my implant removed for my cycle to go back to normal in preparation. (My surgery isn't doing this yet due to COVID).

I'd like to track my cycles for a few months when my period is back and I've downloaded 'fertility friend', but I'm so confused by all the abbreviations that are used on here, and it makes me think I'm missing something.

Please help, I'm a complete novice and have no idea what I'm doing.

I'm assuming CD16 is the day you're most fertile? How does taking your temperature help, and can someone please break some of these abbreviations on here down for me, because I'm a complete noob Grin

Thanks in advance

The best source of info is Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. I have a copy of it I often refer back to when oddities crop up in my/my friends/other posters cycles. It explains the science behind the ovulatory cycle and how to track your temperature properly.

Cycle day (CD) 16 may be your most fertile day if you have a 30 day cycle. You're fertile for up to 5 days before ovulation and 24-48 hours after it. When you ovulate, the follicle that releases the egg releases progesterone, which causes your body temperature to rise. By tracking this rise you can tell if you have ovulated or not, and your period is due 12-14 days after this. You'll need a thermometer to 2 decimal places and you'll need to measure the very first thing you do in the morning after at least 4 hours of sleep, before going to the loo/checking your phone/anything.

If there's specific abbreviations you want to know, just ask!

Ah, thanks so much! I'll give the book a read. It probably seems like a really silly question, but it's been so long since I've had a cycle I really don't remember what 'normal' is. Hence why I figured getting the implant out and learning to track for the time being was the best place to start 😊 Thanks again.

It's helpful to get in touch with your body and what's normal - your luteal phase after ovulation won't change much month to month, but your follicular phase before ovulation can change wildly depending on diet, stress etc. So you can be late on CD26 but not late on CD32 depending on what's gone on with your life. Tracking your cycle is really useful for TTC. Good luck!

So I've taken 3 separate tests today and extremely faint line coming up each time...could this be an evap line on all 3 or mega faint positive? Not sure how to post a pic on here?
