Soy- yes or no?

DH and I are preparing to TTC number 3 after an almost 5 year gap. I'm making diet changes in preparation for starting next month. I've googled fertility diets a lot and already made changes.

I don't eat a lot of meat and one of my fave meals was chilli made with tesco veggie mince. However it's soy mince, and I've read a couple of articles saying that it influences oestrogen so don't eat it. I've also read that you should eat it, but not men?!

What does everyone think? I conceived cycle 2 for number two but I was 27 then. My eldest was a happy surprise when I was 23. I'm now 33.

Thanks in advance!

Yeah go for it. I eat loads of soy and I’ve had 2 babies x

I think the issues with soya are more eating excessive amounts. You're also young and had your first 2 DC without issues, so wouldn't expect you suddenly will now TTC unless your health has drastically changed since DC2

Im 33, vegan, eat moderate but not excessive amounts of soy, me & DP conceived straight away.

But i appeciate that is just my own personal experience, do what is best for you Smile

Thanks everyone, I'm just paranoid as since my periods came back when my youngest was 20 months (bf) my cycles have been shorter, although not my luteal phase. I go by tracking ewcm. DH is also 10 years older at 43 so I'm convinced it's going to take ages compared to previous babies!

I should really keep eating it and if ttc takes a while then I can cut it out! I've been using lentils which may be virtuous but I don't really enjoy them!

I agree with previous posters. Also if you think about you've got pretty much all of China eating soy products and they don't seem to struggle with conception overall? If you're really worried then there are beyond burger type products that are not made from soy.

@Juno231

Agreed. The more natural products are better- edamame, tofu, tempeh, soy yoghurt.

Highly processed soy "junk foods" multiple times a day, maybe not. But a few times a week is a nice treat.
