Hi all,

Sorry if this is a silly question but I'm looking at purchasing the Clearblue digital ovulation test. The pack comes with refills but can I not buy more refills without buying the actual digital test?

I've looked but can find them.

TIA x
@Daisy545 basically every time you use it you set a new baseline so that's why it's important you test once a day on consecutive days in the morning. If you tested say Monday morning you set your baseline. If you were then to test Monday night you'd set a new baseline so if you then tested Tuesday morning you'd skew your results and you may get more days of flashing smiley than you normally would because it will detect the surge between the more concentrated first morning urine and the night time urine which wouldn't be a true surge. Once you get the static smiley you're going to ovulate In the next 24 hours. The static smiley will stay on screen for a day and then go blank. It will reset itself after 48 hours and you'd be able to use it again next cycle but it doesn't make that much difference if you use a new holder or not.
Ovulation can happen 12-36 hours after peak not necessarily 24 hours

claireb707 · 10/08/2020 05:27
@claireb707 I thought that when it changed to peak that just indicated you would ovulate in next 24-36hra or something, so there isn’t a need to test multiple times a day?

OP, I used these and think they are really effective.
You don’t need to test from day one. I think they advise day 6/7 or something. Once I had done it for 2 months I knew that I ovulated around day 17, so I’d start on day 12 or something.
You can’t buy just the refills. It’s a pain.i thought I bought some once and when they arrived they were for the monitor that you can buy for £80 (which you then need expensive refills for) - that was annoying.

Sometimes amazon have a deal on a extra large pack. But a pack would last me 2/3 months. The monitor/results bit becomes unusable for 48hrs once you peak, but then I definitely reused mine. But there’s no real need as you’ll always end up with more given you can’t buy the sticks alone.
The instructions are very clear and just make sure you read them. I misunderstood the time scales involved the first month and once I peaked I thought I only had a few hours but actually I think you have 36hrs or something before theoretically ovulating.. that’s probably way out as it was a while ago but you get my drift.

Wishing you luck
But if you don't test multiple times you could miss your peak, as said my peak occurs roughly at 4pm, if I only test in the morning I miss it, so I would never catch it. I haven't got a solid smiley in the morning once in the 11 cycles I've been testing

Thank you all so much for the advice, makes perfect sense now. Purchased the digital advanced which is due to arrive today.

Fingers crossed

Morning guys,

So I tested yesterday and it showed as low fertility, today is a smiley face.

Could it detect that change already?

OP posts:
chubbyhotchoc · 11/08/2020 09:51

Yes. Is it static or flashing?

Daisy545 · 11/08/2020 10:07

@chubbyhotchoc it's static. So should I not have had it flashing yesterday?

OP posts:
chubbyhotchoc · 11/08/2020 10:23

@Daisy545 not necessarily. I've had that happen before. In fact I think it happened with this pregnancy. Was yesterday your first time using it?

Daisy545 · 11/08/2020 10:29

@chubbyhotchoc yes first time yesterday. I'm just so relieved a smiley has appeared, with the issues I have I wasn't convinced I was even ovulating normally.

Just worried in case it's a mistake as it's only day 2 x

OP posts:
chubbyhotchoc · 11/08/2020 10:54

@Daisy545 no tbh if you'd have started using them a few days ago you'd have probably got flashing. First time you use them is always the empty circle. Sets the baseline. It's a good you did it. Dtd today and next two days to be sure.

Daisy545 · 11/08/2020 11:01

So does the reader keep a track somehow then notices the change? Or is it just purely off the test? X

@chubbyhotchoc when it is static does it stay on the screen for 48 hours when you remove the test?

Yes it does 😁

Daisy545 · 11/08/2020 11:18

@claireb707 thank you!

My mistake then, I was too happy when I seen the smiley. It was flashing, this is better news right?

Yep, keep testing and maybe switch to testing twice a day, so fmu and 4-6pm ish

Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice about the CB advance please :)

We have had to postpone our wedding to September next year and this will be our third cycle TTC. I really want to throw everything at it this time as if we don't conceive in the next cycle or two we will have to have a rethink regarding timing and our wedding.

I came off the pill in April and have just started my fourth cycle. First two cycles were 30 + 37 days but I had an extremely short luteal phase. Last cycle was 53 days! But i had a normal luteal phase, so that's positive.

Last cycle I had EWCM for about two weeks before I finally ovulated! So I guess my oestrogen was high all that time and my body wasn't quite managing to ovulate (I chart BBT, and confirmed ovulation).

What I wanted to ask is if my cycle is similar and I end up with high oestrogen for quite some time before ovulation, are the CB digitals even going to help me? Or do you think it'll make things more confusing? I like the idea of having a good warning in the run up to O so we can DTD lots, but also don't want to be stressing about DTD for weeks if I have flashing smileys all that time. I'm praying this cycle is better, but obviously there's no way of knowing. Last cycle by the time I ovulated - around CD36-40, I had near enough given up on DTD after all that time, but that's not going to help us conceive, so trying to decide what the best approach will be this time around.

Thanks x

@MintGreenLife sorry I really am not the best person to advise but I hope someone here can help.

Another flashing smiley just now 😊 x

@Daisy545 did you get your BFP? Just bought the connected clearblue monitor and this will be my first month trying it, after 10 months TTC.

Daisy545 · 29/09/2020 16:15

@EmbarrassingMama sadly not yet.

Still testing and temping. Hopefully it will work soon.

Fingers crossed works for you ❤️

OP posts:
EmbarrassingMama · 29/09/2020 16:19

And you! Sure it will happen soon :-)

Did you manage to pin point your ovulation day at least?

Daisy545 · 29/09/2020 16:34

@EmbarrassingMama not entirely yet. I kept getting a couple of days of peaks and then low. Then within another couple of days it was the same again.

It has been low for almost two weeks now, so hopefully it is starting to pick up a pattern. Will just wait and see when the smiley face comes back again 😊
