To have a hycosy or not

I have my initial consultation with a private fertility clinic today. All my results came back ok, husbands semen analysis was fine except for % normal. They hope for >4% and he got 2%.

All in all though she said she would expect us to be able to conceive naturally, and perhaps give it another 6mths before considering IVF. I'm almost 37 and my DH is 44, we've been trying for 10mths to conceive a 2nd child.

I asked about whether a hycosy would be beneficial and she said everything on my ultrasound looked ok, but I could have it done for peace of mind. I've read stories of where the procedure made some people extra fertile so I'm wondering is it worth the pain and cost.

I find smears very painful so I think I would find this very difficult too.

I'd appreciate any thoughts.

I don't know about hycosys but your comment on smears being painful made me think you might have a tilted uterus. Apparently lying on your front rather than on your back after dtd can help sperm to get to the right place if this is the case. Random but thought I would share! Good luck x

I had this procedure on the nhs in February this year, all was fine I've still not conceived, but it did make me miss a period, i had a 10week gap.

Hope you get your BFP soon

Xx
